This Israeli Startup’s ‘Automation Therapy’ Could Save You From Stress—Here’s How!

Chronic stress has become an all-too-common affliction in modern society, leading to debilitating symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, irritability, and mood swings. According to a wide body of research, these issues are not merely personal struggles but reflect a larger societal problem fueled by our fast-paced, technology-driven lives.

Emanuel Natanov, co-founder of the mental health biofeedback company ARHIMOTION, explains that humans are a “social species biologically wired for community and trust.” However, he argues that modern life has “outpaced our biology,” leading to digital isolation and a relentless race for productivity that our nervous systems are ill-equipped to handle. Natanov states, “We are forced into a high-paced global competition where the demand for speed, higher salaries, and mercantile achievement creates unbearable pressure.” This relentless push for immediate results has left many in a state of chronic hyperarousal, ultimately eroding our spiritual foundations.

“By prioritizing economic velocity over human well-being, we have created a world of global tension where we are running faster than our biology allows,”

He advocates for a solution centered on nervous system regulation, which he believes is essential for restoring individual wellness. Natanov asserts, “When we transform a stressed, reactive individual into a calm, balanced parent, partner, or colleague, that ripple effect creates the tolerance and collective well-being we envision.” His vision is to normalize “mental fitness” so that happiness becomes a sustainable state rather than a fleeting moment.

ARHIMOTION was conceived when Natanov, with over 15 years in the high-tech industry, recognized that technology often maximizes productivity while neglecting the human element. Motivated by this realization, he aimed to create technology that serves human health and happiness, stating, “We cannot truly succeed if our mental well-being is broken.” This vision led to the development of a biofeedback system that combines clinical neuroscience, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

Following the tragic events of October 7, when Hamas attacked Israel, ARHIMOTION faced challenges in scaling its operations to meet the urgent mental health needs of those affected. Although the company had not yet secured sufficient funding to finalize its regulatory pilots, the crisis accelerated its efforts to provide immediate relief. Natanov recounted, “We witnessed a nation in trauma facing a severe shortage of therapists, a gap that our robotics were designed to fill.” He emphasized the urgency of ARHIMOTION's mission, stating, “If we had the resources to deploy even just 15 additional automated units, we could have treated thousands more.”

Introducing Automation Therapy

ARHIMOTION revolves around the concept of automation therapy, where artificial intelligence acts as a supportive partner in restoring emotional balance. Unlike wearables that only track data, ARHIMOTION’s system actively engages users, allowing them to customize therapeutic sessions. Natanov noted, “We are building a platform where advanced AI doesn’t just deliver a pre-set treatment; it allows us to ‘teach’ it.” This interactive model enables both users and therapists to create personalized therapeutic experiences.

The current iteration of the ARHIMOTION system is embedded in a mattress, designed to guide users into deep relaxation through a combination of therapist-led guidance and interactive feedback. During what is termed an “active biofeedback session,” patients receive real-time responses that help them engage with the therapy. Natanov describes this process as “body biofeedback,” focusing on scientifically validated methods like vestibular stimulation, bilateral stimulation, and vibration therapy to regulate emotions and calm the nervous system.

As the company prepares for clinical validation through collaborations with hospitals, including a partnership with Tel Aviv’s Hormesis health center, Natanov highlights the potential for remote therapy to provide crucial mental health support. The system’s ability to aggregate anonymous data from thousands of sessions not only allows for continuous protocol refinement but can also yield insights into broader mental health trends.

“By physically resolving that immediate physiological tension and restoring the ability to sleep, we are directly addressing the acute root of the trauma,”

Natanov emphasizes that while the data on the efficacy of ARHIMOTION for conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is still developing, preliminary feedback indicates its effectiveness for acute trauma, particularly in alleviating sleep disturbances. He believes that reducing general societal stress can foster a more tolerant environment that allows individuals to heal.

User testimonials, such as that of a participant named Eden, showcase the profound impact of ARHIMOTION’s therapy. After an 18-minute session, she described feeling as if she were healing and letting go of physical tension. “I felt like I could run a marathon, even though I have never run before,” she said, highlighting the therapy's empowering effects.

Despite initial skepticism surrounding the technology, Natanov points out that the drug-free and non-invasive nature of ARHIMOTION's therapy reduces barriers to entry. He acknowledges the challenges in gaining trust from investors accustomed to traditional digital apps and pharmaceuticals. “We find ourselves constantly having to educate the market on why this tangible, robotic revolution is the inevitable next step for mental health,” he observed.

As ARHIMOTION continues to innovate, it envisions expanding its applications to address neurological disorders and complex rehabilitation needs. With Israel as its research and development hub, the company is also exploring opportunities in the United States and Europe to broaden its impact.

In Natanov’s words, “We plan to lead this revolution, believing that even a small improvement in individual resilience can create a massive ripple effect for society.” As anxiety and stress continue to plague modern life, solutions like ARHIMOTION offer hope for a healthier future.
