Eyewitness accounts and social media posts captured dramatic scenes of gray smoke billowing over green fields in Qantara, following what NNA classified as an Israeli bombing.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah has escalated in recent weeks, with both sides exchanging attacks ahead of the crucial talks. Earlier that day, Israeli forces intercepted a Hezbollah drone aimed at soldiers in southern Israel. Reports indicate that Israeli troops have engaged in bulldozing homes and destroying key infrastructure in the area, as stated by NNA.

In a related development, U.S. President Donald Trump had previously ordered a “10-day ceasefire” between Israel and Lebanon to commence at 5 p.m. ET on April 16—midnight local time in Lebanon. This six-point U.S.-led plan stipulates that Israel would maintain its right to self-defense while urging the Lebanese government to prevent Hezbollah from conducting any hostile actions against Israeli targets.

Since the ceasefire was announced, the Israeli military has reportedly killed at least six individuals in Lebanon, according to a CNN tally based on figures from NNA.
