The new facility spans an impressive 19,000 square feet and is situated at 5705 Sunrise Highway, within the Sun Lakes Shopping Center. This location promises a comprehensive fitness experience, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, functional training areas, a hot and cold therapy bed, tanning services, and even a spa, as highlighted by general manager Victoria Gigliotti.

The gym has made a splash right out of the gate, boasting over 3,000 members since its opening. The strategic location on Sunrise Highway is anticipated to attract residents not only from Brookhaven and Islip towns but also from surrounding areas, leveraging the heavy traffic to broaden its clientele. “The visibility due to the heavy traffic on Sunrise Highway will allow us to broaden our clientele,” said Gigliotti in a phone interview, emphasizing the potential for growth in this bustling area.

Planet Fitness is in the midst of an ambitious expansion phase both in the United States and internationally. In the past year alone, the company opened 181 gyms, with a staggering 104 of those locations debuting between October and December. Currently, the company operates nearly 2,900 locations across the globe. CEO Colleen Keating informed stock analysts in February that they expect to unveil another 180 to 190 gyms in the upcoming year—a testament to their commitment to growth.

Just seven years ago, Planet Fitness had only 17 gyms in the local market, showcasing the rapid pace of its expansion. The business model has proven lucrative; for the year ending December 31, 2025, Planet Fitness reported a profit of $219 million on revenue reaching $1.3 billion.

The Holbrook location has also created local job opportunities, employing 13 staff members. To celebrate its grand opening, a special event featuring giveaways is scheduled for Thursday, inviting community members to check out the new amenities and become part of the growing fitness community.
