Warning: Popular Snack Bars Recalled After Shocking Illness – Are Yours Affected? Find Out Now!

Several popular snack bars are facing a recall due to undeclared allergens that have already led to an allergic reaction in at least one customer. Juniper Granola, LLC, headquartered in Rochester, New York, has issued a voluntary recall for its Chocolate Cherry and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Junebars after discovering that the products may contain both milk and soy, which were not listed on the packaging.
According to a press release from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the absence of these ingredients poses a significant risk for individuals with allergies to milk or soy. The company became aware of the issue after a customer reported experiencing an allergic reaction to milk after consuming one of the bars. This prompted Juniper Granola to launch an investigation, which revealed that a box of non-vegan chocolate chips containing both milk and soy had been inadvertently used during production.
Junebars are marketed as high-fiber snacks made with whole foods, typically featuring dairy-free and soy-free chocolate chips. However, the lapses in the company’s evaluation process led to this serious oversight, triggering the immediate recall once the error was identified.
The recall specifically affects Chocolate Cherry and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Junebars marked with production codes L1300, L1300A, L1300B, or L1301A. These products were available for sale on Juniper Granola’s website and distributed to various retailers since January 2026. Consumers who have these snack bars are advised to dispose of them immediately or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.
Milk and soy are recognized as two of the nine major food allergens in the United States, along with wheat, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame. Allergic reactions to these foods can range from mild symptoms like hives and lip swelling to severe, life-threatening conditions known as anaphylaxis, which can cause fatal respiratory issues and shock.
This incident underscores a troubling trend with snack products being recalled due to allergen mislabeling. Just last month, thousands of M&M’s products were recalled across 20 states after it was found that their packaging lacked proper allergen warnings, leading to potential health risks. Similarly, in December, 50-pound bags of cake mixes were pulled from the market due to undeclared milk allergens, raising serious health concerns and prompting an FDA classification of Class I, indicating a significant health risk.
As food allergies continue to pose serious health risks, it is crucial for companies to maintain rigorous labeling practices and product evaluations. Consumers must remain vigilant and informed about the potential dangers of consuming products without proper allergen disclosures. In an era where health consciousness is on the rise, incidents like this highlight the importance of transparency in food labeling and the need for ongoing vigilance by both manufacturers and consumers alike.
