Shocking Revelation: Top Colorado Recruit Exposes FOUR College Programs—Is Your Team Next?

The race to recruit premier prospects in the class of 2027 has intensified as college football programs ramp up their efforts during the 2026 offseason. Over the next two months, numerous high school athletes will make official visits to their preferred colleges before announcing their commitments. Some, however, are choosing to declare their college decisions before taking those visits, as seen in the recent commitment of four-star interior offensive lineman Jackson Roper to UCLA.
Roper, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound athlete from Englewood, Colorado, ranks as the No. 15 interior offensive lineman and the top prospect in Colorado. He is also listed as the No. 219 overall prospect in the 2027 class. Roper began his high school football career at Regis Jesuit High School before transferring to Cherry Creek High School. Throughout his first three seasons, he has showcased versatility by playing on both the offensive and defensive lines.
UCLA offered Roper a scholarship in late January, shortly after hiring new head coach Bob Chesney. His commitment marks a significant milestone for the Bruins, as Roper is the second offensive lineman to join their 2027 class in the last month and the first four-star offensive lineman since Thomas Cole committed in 2021.
Landing Roper was no small feat for UCLA. According to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, four other Power Four programs were vying for his commitment. Among them, Michigan offered Roper a scholarship in September 2025. Although he attended a spring practice in April, he did not schedule an official visit to Ann Arbor. The Wolverines currently have two offensive line commitments for 2027, including three-star interior offensive lineman Louis Esposito. If they had secured Roper's commitment, it would have marked their first four-star interior offensive lineman since Raheem Anderson II in 2021.
Auburn began courting Roper only after firing former head coach Hugh Freeze, offering him a scholarship in early February. He visited the Tigers during a spring practice in March but did not plan an official visit. Auburn currently has only one offensive line commit in 2027—three-star interior offensive lineman Jaylon Moore. Their last four-star interior offensive lineman was DeAndre Carter, who committed in the 2024 cycle.
Texas A&M, which was among Roper's earliest suitors, offered him a scholarship during a camp in June 2025. Roper has visited Texas A&M twice since receiving the offer and has an official visit scheduled for June 5. While the Aggies do not yet have any interior offensive line commitments for the 2027 class, they have secured commitments from three top offensive tackles: Kennedy Brown, Kaeden Scott, and DeMarrion Johnson.
Meanwhile, Ohio State also extended an offer to Roper in September 2025. He visited the Buckeyes for a spring practice and has an official visit scheduled for June 12. Ohio State successfully recruited three interior offensive linemen in the 2026 cycle, including four-star prospect Max Riley.
As the recruitment landscape evolves, the commitment of Jackson Roper to UCLA highlights the competitive nature of college football recruiting and the strategic maneuvers that programs must undertake to secure top talent. With the 2027 class still forming, programs are keen to make strong impressions and commitments that could shape their future success on the field.
