LocalHost's Shocking $2.5M Boost from Red Bull—Is Your Startup Next in Line?

LocalHost, a startup accelerator based in Bengaluru, India, has successfully raised $2.5 million in funding from notable investors including Invideo, Red Bull India, Orangewood Labs, and Eros International. This significant investment will allow the accelerator to expand its founder labs not only across India but also in the United States and Japan.
Founded by Kei Hayashi from Tokyo and Suhas Sumukh from Bengaluru, both aged 18, along with Hardeep Gambhir, a 22-year-old from Toronto, LocalHost is creating a unique environment for entrepreneurs. The accelerator focuses on nurturing talent in technical and creative fields, including media, software, and hardware. Its programs attract entrepreneurs from cities around the globe, fostering a collaborative atmosphere to develop innovative solutions.
In India, LocalHost operates a 50-day fellowship program in Bengaluru, where it selects 15 founders per cohort. The accelerator has also established branches in Tokyo and Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and has invested a total of $1.2 million across 15 startups to date.
Suhas Sumukh, the Chief Operating Officer of LocalHost, highlighted the immense potential in India’s STEM talent pool. He stated, “India has a massive STEM talent pool and is even larger than the EU and the US combined, with a lot of it coming from tier-2 and tier-3 cities. But the problem is that investors and institutions tend to focus mainly on metro cities, and the bureaucracy can make it tough for young people to turn their ideas into something real, so LocalHost is a platform for builders from such cities.”
Since launching its India program, LocalHost has successfully run cohorts that have connected startups with venture partners and other participants in the ecosystem. Some of the innovative startups emerging from this accelerator include Maya Research, which specializes in AI and research tools; Prava Payments, which focuses on fintech and payments infrastructure; Dawn Labs, dedicated to product and engineering development; Whisperwave, which is making strides in audio and media technology; and Markov, known for its AI-driven data tools.
With the new funding, Sumukh emphasized that the accelerator aims to enhance its infrastructure, strengthen hardware capabilities, and expand its teams in various regions. This support will ultimately allow LocalHost to accommodate more early-stage founder cohorts globally, creating deeper connections and opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs.
This investment comes at a pivotal moment for the startup ecosystem in India, as the country continues to be a burgeoning hub for technological innovation and entrepreneurial growth. By bridging the gap between talent from smaller cities and opportunities in larger markets, LocalHost is positioning itself as a key player in nurturing the next generation of startups.
