The Shocking Truth Behind Huntington Beach's New Fitness Studio: Is It Worth Your Sweat?

In the sun-soaked community of Huntington Beach, California, local resident Daniel Venti has discovered a transformative fitness journey at the newly opened Stride Fitness. As a father of four, Venti had always found it challenging to maintain his fitness, especially with the arrival of each new family member. However, the opening of Stride Fitness earlier this year proved to be a turning point for him.
“They did free workouts at the beach a couple times a week while they were still building out this place,” Venti shared. Through these sessions, he got to know the supportive team at Stride Fitness, noting their investment in the well-being of their members. “They’re all totally invested in people like me and trying to make us better, which is awesome. They even let me bring my four kids to the beach for workouts,” he added.
Now, Venti is part of the dedicated 5 a.m. crew at Stride Fitness, attending a 55-minute workout every weekday and sometimes on weekends. His commitment has paid off; he recalls that he couldn’t run a mile when he started, but now he’s running 2 ½ miles and has lost over 10 pounds. “My wife notices it — that’s the best part,” he remarked. “The second-best part is I have more energy at the park to chase my kids around.”
Stride Fitness, located just down the street from Venti's home, emphasizes a hybrid training approach. According to CEO Shaun Grove, their classes involve a mix of treadmill-based cardio and strength training, designed to cater to various fitness levels. “If [the trainer] said, ‘Do Romanian deadlifts,’ and you’re like, ‘What the hell is a Romanian deadlift?’ you can look up and see someone actually doing it [on a TV],” Grove explained, pointing out the facility's use of technology to enhance the member experience.
After each workout, members have the opportunity to utilize a recovery zone equipped with massage and compression therapy, alongside infrared light technology promoting muscle repair. Grove, who has been in the boutique fitness industry for nearly two decades, believes this recovery aspect is what sets Stride Fitness apart from others. “It’s definitely a big demand for consumers today, and it’s vastly underserved,” he noted. “I think it definitely makes us unique and helps differentiate us.”
Partnering with Grove is Anthony Badalian, the president and chief operating officer of Stride Fitness. Having spent about a decade with 24 Hour Fitness, Badalian has observed positive feedback since their soft opening in February. “The motivation you get from the coach, the workouts, the programming, all really helps people push past their limits and strive for those fitness goals they have,” he said. “But also, they love the recovery component.”
This integrated approach, combining intense workouts with recovery solutions, offers members a comprehensive wellness experience under one roof, eliminating the need for multiple memberships or equipment purchases. Stride Fitness aims to meet the growing consumer demand for holistic wellness solutions.
Moreover, the facility is committed to engaging with the local community. Last weekend, Stride Fitness led warm-ups at the annual “Running is for the Birds” event at Bolsa Chica State Park, benefiting Amigos de Bolsa Chica. Such initiatives not only promote fitness but also strengthen community ties.
As more fitness enthusiasts seek inclusive environments that address both physical training and recovery, Stride Fitness seems poised to carve a niche in the bustling fitness landscape of Southern California. Venti's personal success story is just one of many that illustrate the positive impact of supportive fitness communities like Stride Fitness, reflecting a growing trend in the industry towards holistic health and wellness.
