You Won't Believe Which Iowa High School Soccer Teams Are Dominating the Rankings—Find Out Before It's Too Late!

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has officially kicked off the 2026 spring season with the release of its inaugural rankings for girls high school soccer. The anticipation is palpable in the air as teams gear up for what promises to be a thrilling season.
Defending champions have started strong, with Waukee Northwest leading the pack in Class 3A, Dallas Center-Grimes taking the top spot in Class 2A, and Davenport Assumption asserting its dominance in Class 1A. Each of these teams not only holds the first ranking but also the title of state champions from the previous year.
The season officially commenced on March 23, with competitive matches beginning on April 2. Throughout the season, teams are allowed to compete in a total of 17 matches and one scrimmage, setting the stage for a dynamic and competitive environment.
Excitement Builds for State Tournament
The path to the state tournament is tightly packed, with regional tournaments scheduled from May 26 to June 4. The highly anticipated state tournament will unfold over the following weeks, specifically on June 8-9 and June 11-13.
Last year, Waukee Northwest showcased an exceptional performance, earning clean sheets against both Bettendorf and their rival Waukee during the state tournament before clinching the championship title with a close 3-2 victory over the No. 7 seed, Linn-Mar. Meanwhile, Dallas Center-Grimes executed a stunning upset over top-seed Waverly-Shell Rock, winning 1-0 in the finals, and Davenport Assumption secured their championship by defeating No. 1 Denver with a score of 2-0.
