LOVES PARK, Ill. — The YMCA of Rock River Valley celebrated a significant milestone on Thursday with the unveiling of its newly expanded fitness center at the Northeast Family YMCA, located at 8451 Orth Road. This renovation comes after just eight weeks of construction, resulting in a facility that doubles the size of the original space.

The expansion reflects the YMCA’s commitment to enhancing community wellness and fitness offerings. It was made possible by taking over the area previously occupied by UW Health Physical Therapy, effectively merging the two spaces to create a more open and inviting environment for members.

The $800,000 project introduces a variety of new equipment, including plate-loaded weights, aimed at providing members with enhanced workout options. Additionally, the Northeast Family YMCA plans to offer overnight access for members with an upgraded membership, catering to the growing demand for flexible fitness schedules.

“To see how much it’s changed on the outside, to see how much it’s changed just in the city of Loves Park and also on the inside, it’s just continuing to grow and we’re able to serve more people,” said Melissa Burns, the YMCA vice president of operations. “So I think it’s the right timing and we’re just so excited to be able to do this at this time.”

The Northeast Family YMCA first opened its doors in 2007, and this marks its first major renovation aimed at increasing amenities for members and families.
