SmartSens has announced the launch of its new SC575XS 50 megapixel CMOS sensor, set to elevate the smartphone photography experience for premium devices expected to hit the market in 2026. This innovative sensor, designed with a 1.56-inch optical format, is created using a 22-nanometer manufacturing process and features a 1.0-micrometer pixel footprint built on the proprietary SmartClarity XL Pro architecture.

Central to this announcement is the implementation of Lofic HDR 3.0, which merges three distinct frames during a single exposure. This technique aims to enhance the dynamic range, achieving an impressive 110 dB. According to SmartSens, this method significantly reduces the risk of overexposure in challenging backlight situations while preserving essential visual details in darker areas. The sensor's silicon design is engineered to minimize motion blur, a common issue in low-light photography.

The SC575XS offers two autofocus modes tailored for varying lighting conditions. In optimal brightness, it utilizes standard phase detection autofocus. Conversely, in low-light scenarios, the AllPix ADAF mode activates all pixels, enhancing focus accuracy. To support this low-light functionality, the sensor employs SFCPixel 2 noise reduction algorithms, showcasing its advanced capabilities.

In terms of video capabilities, the SC575XS can record 4K video at 120 frames per second, pushing the boundaries of mobile videography. Notably, when utilizing High Dynamic Range at 4K and 60 frames per second, it consumes just 430 milliwatts of power, indicating SmartSens's dedication to thermal efficiency and battery preservation for mobile video creators.

The sensor supports data output through both RAW RGB and QCell RGB formats, ensuring compatibility with MIPI C and D PHY interfaces.
