You Won't Believe What RIL's New AI Arm Just Unveiled—Job Opportunities for Engineers Are Limited!

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has officially launched its new artificial intelligence (AI) subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence (REIL), marking a significant move in India's burgeoning AI sector. Under the leadership of Gaurav Aggarwal, the chief AI scientist at Reliance Jio, this new unit is already in the process of recruiting AI and machine learning (ML) engineers to focus on the development of Indic-language models and the incubation of innovative products.

In a recent post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Aggarwal expressed a bold vision for Reliance Intelligence, stating, “At Reliance Intelligence, we're assembling a team that can push what is technically possible in India's AI ecosystem. Whether we’ve worked together or you’ve followed my journey from afar: if you have the skills and the fire, I want you on this team.” He emphasized the importance of attracting top talent to drive this ambitious mission forward, inviting skilled individuals to join him in what he described as a historical endeavor.

Reliance Intelligence was incorporated in September 2025 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of RIL and serves as the hub for the company's AI partnerships with global giants like Google and Meta Platforms. This partnership is set to enhance India’s AI capabilities significantly, especially as the tech world increasingly leans toward AI-driven solutions. The subsidiary will primarily focus on developing and distributing enterprise AI services, with Reliance Intelligence holding a 70% stake and Meta's Facebook arm retaining 30% in the joint venture (JV) arrangement.

The initial investment in REIL has been substantial, with both companies committing approximately Rs 855 crore (around $103 million). This investment underlines the confidence both Reliance and Meta have in the potential of AI technologies in India, particularly in areas that can cater to the country's unique linguistic and cultural landscape.

In a collaborative effort with Google, Reliance Intelligence is already rolling out Google’s AI Pro plan, which gives eligible Jio users access to Google Gemini for 18 months at no cost. This offer, valued at Rs 35,100 (about $425), provides users with enhanced features such as advanced image and video generation capabilities through Google's state-of-the-art models, expanded access to Notebook LM for study and research purposes, and an impressive 2 TB of cloud storage.

Gaurav Aggarwal's experience in the AI field is noteworthy, having previously worked with prestigious organizations like Google DeepMind and IBM. His leadership at Reliance Jio since May 2024 has prepared him to spearhead this new initiative, drawing on his extensive background in AI research and data science. His previous roles at companies like Ola and Snapdeal have equipped him with a deep understanding of both technical and market demands in the tech industry.

The establishment of Reliance Intelligence is a clear signal of RIL's commitment to being at the forefront of AI technology in India. As the country positions itself as a global tech hub, initiatives like these are essential for fostering innovation and developing solutions that cater to local needs, paving the way for a more inclusive digital ecosystem.
