You Won’t Believe What Pigg Learned in 46 Years of Faith and Family—The Shocking Truth Will Leave You Speechless!

When Diana L. Pigg walked into a real estate class in early 1979, she was not pursuing a long-held dream of a glamorous career. Instead, she was a young mother of two, grappling with unemployment after her government job disappeared without warning. With a shaky financial future ahead, she was motivated by necessity rather than ambition.
Reflecting on that pivotal moment, Pigg shared, “I found myself unemployed, having worked for a government entity that did not renew the local contract and shut down the organization where I worked, and then with two young sons to support, I took a job which I knew was only temporary/part-time and would end without notice.” The job market in LaGrange was daunting; positions were scarce and few matched her skill set or paid enough to keep the family afloat.
Then, a conversation with a friend sparked an idea. “I was talking to a friend one day who told me she was going to get her real estate license, and why didn’t I get mine too?” The suggestion resonated with Pigg, despite her initial naive perceptions about the profession. “I thought that the real estate agents I was familiar with typically drove large vehicles and had flexible work schedules and didn’t appear to work hard with people calling them to buy a house,” she recounted. “Boy, was I in for a rude awakening — it takes hard work if you are going to build your business, making phone calls, visiting friends and neighbors.”
Yet, her determination propelled her forward. “With mouths to feed, I knew I had to pass the first time, and with the help of my friend (we studied together) and God’s blessing, I did pass on my first try,” she declared. In January 1979, she received her real estate license, marking the beginning of a journey that would span over four decades.
Pigg made a solemn vow to herself: she would leave real estate if it ever required her to lie, cheat, or steal for success. This commitment has defined her career. Her first position was with Manor Realty in LaGrange, where she worked under Jim and Peggy Wiles. It took her three months to earn her first commission check, but when it finally arrived, it was a euphoric moment. “I thought I was rich,” she recalled, noting that the check was around $350, a significant sum in 1979.
Like many newcomers, Pigg considered changing firms in search of better opportunities. She eventually moved to Daniel Realty, acquiring her associate broker’s license in 1983. This transition taught her a valuable lesson: “The grass is only greener if you fertilize and water it.”
Pigg's career later took her to Columbus, where she joined Coldwell Banker Kennon, Parker, Duncan and Davis. It was here that she established her reputation, achieving lifetime membership in the Circle of Excellence — formerly known as the Million Dollar Club — in 1995. However, in 2002, following her father Gilbert R. Holliday’s passing, family obligations brought her back to LaGrange, where her late husband, Rev. Jim Pigg, a music evangelist, encouraged the move to preserve the family home.
With her return, business opportunities blossomed. In 2006, after a brief partnership under a national franchise, she opened her own office, Holliday Realtors. The firm soon evolved into an independent, local company, marking a significant milestone. “Next year will be our 20th anniversary,” Pigg said proudly, as her agency has expanded to 14 active agents, including three with associate broker's licenses and six licensed in both Georgia and Alabama.
For Pigg, real estate transcends contracts and commissions; it is deeply personal. “I have always considered real estate a ministry, my opportunity to help people obtain a home of their own or to sell the one they have so they can move on to the next chapter of their life,” she expressed. This philosophy has fortified her through various market fluctuations, including economic downturns and housing bubbles.
“There have been many different markets in the last 46 years, but God has always seen me through and provided for my needs and the needs of my company,” Pigg reflected. “There have been many learning experiences, challenges, ups and downs, many changes… always something to keep you excited and involved and the drive to keep going.”
One story stands out in her memory as a testament to the significance of her work. As Pigg continues to make her mark on the real estate landscape of LaGrange, her journey embodies resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to community that resonates deeply. Through her unwavering dedication, she has turned a challenging beginning into a successful career, proving that with determination and integrity, one can indeed weather any storm.
