You Won't Believe What Miami Students Are Hiding About Their 10-0 Basketball Streak!

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University men’s basketball team is making waves this season, currently boasting an undefeated record of 23-0. This achievement places them among the exclusive ranks of the only two undefeated teams in the nation, alongside the storied program of Arizona University. The excitement surrounding the RedHawks has turned the campus into a buzz of basketball fervor, particularly as they head into a highly anticipated game against Marshall University this Saturday.
Home games at Millett Hall, which has a seating capacity of 10,000, have been drawing overflow crowds, a stark contrast to past seasons where attendance issues were common. The team’s recent success has not only earned them their first Top 25 national ranking in decades but has also made securing game tickets a challenge for students. “I haven’t been able to get a ticket because they’re always sold out,” said Miami senior Keenan Proctor. “People are excited and everyone is talking about the team and every game that is coming up.”
The cold, snowy atmosphere on campus has only heightened the appeal of attending games. Proctor noted, “It’s especially fun with all the snow hanging around and not much to do outside, so it’s fun to come to basketball games and have the team to talk about. It’s fun to be a RedHawk.”
Millett Hall, a sports arena that has been part of the university since it opened in 1968, is not just a venue for basketball; it has hosted numerous concerts and events over the decades, making it a cultural landmark in Butler County. Recently, school officials have proposed plans to close the iconic arena and build a new facility as part of an “Arena District” closer to student residences at the current recreational Cook Field.
Freshman Cameron Novak reflected on the electric atmosphere at games this season: “The mood on campus is buzzing. Any time I walk by other students, I can hear them talking about the team, so it’s awesome for sure.” Novak described the experience at Millett Hall as “like no other place,” emphasizing the energy of a packed crowd that rivals that of larger universities. “It feels like you are at any other big school because you have a full crowd and a full student section. Everyone is really into the games and it’s amazing to be part of it all,” he said.
The team’s growing national presence has translated into increased engagement on social media, according to Samantha Gregovits, a senior and member of Miami’s men’s basketball social media team. She remarked, “It’s been really fun to see the improvements in all of our viewing and engagements. It’s been electric this season and the boys are having fun with it, so it helps us make our content fun.” The excitement has fostered a vibrant atmosphere on campus, creating a community feeling among current students, alumni, and long-time supporters of the program.
This season is proving to be not just a remarkable chapter in Miami basketball history, but a unifying force for students, encouraging school spirit and community engagement. As the RedHawks continue their journey through this historic season, the ripple effects of their success are felt far beyond the basketball court, invigorating the entire campus community.
