You Won't Believe How Washington Women’s Soccer Shocked Everyone with a Historic No. 6 Ranking!

Kansas City, Mo. – In a remarkable achievement for the University of Washington (UW), the United Soccer Coaches announced the final coaches poll of 2025, ranking the Huskies at No. 6 nationally. This marks the highest finish in the program's history, surpassing their previous best of No. 10 following an Elite 8 run in 2004.

The Huskies also secured the No. 5 spot in the final TopDrawerSoccer.com Top-25, making them the highest-ranked team not participating in this season's NCAA College Cup. Washington completed the 2025 season with an impressive 6-1-2 record against ranked opponents, solidifying their status among the elite in collegiate soccer.

Head coach Nicole Van Dyke expressed immense pride in her team, stating, “This team has been all-in from day one, and the final rankings reflect what they poured into the season and how much they grew along the way. We are so proud of these women.”

Against all odds, the Huskies, initially predicted to finish ninth in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches Poll, claimed the league’s regular-season championship with a record of 9-1-2. This victory marked UW's first conference championship in 25 years. Following this success, they won the 2025 Big Ten Tournament Championship with a thrilling penalty shootout win over Michigan State, which finished ranked No. 7 in the final coaches poll.

Despite their impressive track record in the Big Ten, Washington entered the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 13 by the United Soccer Coaches. However, this did not deter the Huskies. In a remarkable postseason run, they defeated Montana and No. 4 Arkansas before triumphing over No. 7 Virginia in a penalty shootout on the Cavaliers' home field, propelling them into the Elite Eight for only the third time in program history.

Van Dyke remarked, “Team 35 set the standard every day and represented Washington with pride and purpose. We’ll use this as a springboard to keep building forward.”

For fans and supporters of Husky Women’s Soccer, this historic season signifies not only a high point for the program but also a hopeful indication of continued success in the future. For more updates, follow the team on Twitter and Instagram at @UW_WSoccer.
