Why the YMCA's Shocking Partnership with St. Jude Could Change Fitness Forever – Don’t Miss Out!

The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South has launched a new initiative aimed at supporting children battling cancer and other serious illnesses. In partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the organization kicked off the 105-Mile Challenge on Monday afternoon, a six-week fitness and fundraising event designed to raise crucial funds for cancer research.

The 105-Mile Challenge symbolizes the journey from the Fogelman Downtown YMCA location, around all Memphis-area YMCA branches, and back to the St. Jude campus, covering a total distance of 105 miles. Participants are encouraged to engage in various physical activities such as walking, running, biking, swimming, or attending group exercise classes at their local YMCA to log their miles.

The YMCA has set an ambitious goal for its members to collectively cover 105 miles over the six-week period while also encouraging a donation of $105. These contributions will go directly towards supporting vital cancer research and assisting families who are navigating the challenges of pediatric cancer treatment.

“This partnership reflects the heart of the YMCA’s mission; strengthening community through health, wellness, and social responsibility,”

said Brian McLaughlin, President & CEO of the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South. He emphasized that by joining forces with St. Jude, the YMCA is transforming healthy habits into hope for families in need.

This innovative challenge not only promotes physical fitness but also highlights the importance of community involvement in addressing serious health issues like childhood cancer. With St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital being a leader in the fight against pediatric cancer, this collaboration signifies a united front in the quest for cures and better treatments.
