Whitehorse Secondary Lands Shocking $50K Teen Tech Grant—What They Plan to Do Will Change Everything!

In a significant boost for educational technology in Canada, Yukon’s Porter Creek Secondary School has been awarded a Teen Tech for Tomorrow Grant by Best Buy Canada. This initiative is designed to empower youth by enhancing their access to modern technology, crucial for their development and future career opportunities.

The grant, announced on February 12, 2026, is part of a larger program that distributed $150,000 among 18 schools and robotics teams across the country in 2025. Each recipient can receive up to $10,000 to acquire essential educational technology for students in grades 8-12.

In partnership with Dell, the Teen Tech Teams also provide support to high school robotics teams. Each team receives an additional $5,000 along with an Alienware gaming laptop. This equipment is designed to help the teams compete at the highest levels by enabling them to purchase necessary materials and tools.

Since its inception in 2008, Best Buy has allocated over $4 million in grants to more than 300 Canadian public schools. This funding has facilitated upgrades to classroom technology, thereby helping students unlock new possibilities and learn in more dynamic environments.

Launched in 2024, the Teen Tech for Tomorrow program specifically addresses technology equity among Canadian teens. It focuses on providing greater access to technology and training for students in grades 8-12, crucial for fostering a skilled and adaptable future workforce.
