Urgent: Popular Snack Banned After Shocking Health Scare – Is Your Favorite at Risk?

A popular supermarket snack food is facing a recall due to "a possible health risk" stemming from a label misprint. The plant-based brand THIS has issued a warning to customers who have allergies or intolerances to wheat or soya, urging them to return items from its THIS Isn't Chicken Deli range. The alert from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) highlighted that the product line "contains undeclared soya and wheat, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance or with coeliac disease."

As part of the recall process, point-of-sale notices will be displayed in supermarkets that carry the affected range, informing customers of a "cautionary recall." The notice explained that during production, a batch of THIS Isn't Chicken Deli Pieces was incorrectly packed with labels meant for THIS Isn't Cocktail Sausages. The safety of customers remains a top priority for the company, as stated in the notice, which encourages consumers to consult the website for the accurate ingredient list.

The impacted products are packaged in 120g units and have use-by dates ranging from January 29 to February 13, specifically including January 30, January 31, February 2, February 3, February 4, February 5, February 6, February 6, February 12, and February 13. Customers are urged not to consume these products and to check if they have purchased any from the affected use-by dates.

To facilitate the return process, the notice suggests customers take a picture of the alert or write down the use-by dates for reference. They can return the affected products to the store for a full refund, regardless of whether they have a receipt. In addition to the recall, the FSA has issued an allergy alert as a precautionary measure following the mislabeling incident. This protocol comes into play when "foods have to be withdrawn or recalled because the allergy label is missing or incorrect, or if there is any other food allergy risk."

For further assistance regarding the returns process, customers can reach out to THIS directly at [email protected]. This incident highlights the ongoing importance of accurate labeling in food production, especially for those with specific dietary needs. As consumers increasingly rely on plant-based options, companies must prioritize transparency and safety in their product offerings.
