UAE's Modon Just Made a Shocking $100M Bet on US Equestrian – What Happens Next Will Astound You!

In a significant move for the equestrian world, Abu Dhabi-based Modon Holding has announced a strategic investment in Wellington Lifestyle Partners (WLP), enhancing its presence in the U.S. luxury market. This marks Modon’s first direct investment in an equestrian-led development in the United States, aiming to bolster its global footprint in high-value destination developments.
The investment will support the long-term development of the Wellington International equestrian showgrounds in Florida, alongside plans for an ultra-luxury real estate project. This ambitious project includes high-end residences, a boutique hotel, a commercial marketplace, and a championship golf course, enhancing Wellington's reputation as a global center for equestrian sport and luxury living.
Investment Highlights
Modon's partnership aligns the company with WLP’s existing investors and operators, which include notable assets such as The Wanderers Club and The Wellington, a private residential community scheduled to open in 2028, featuring a golf course designed by David McLay Kidd. Additional plans incorporate a lifestyle marketplace that will serve as a hub for luxury hotels, residences, retail, office spaces, and dining options.
The deal also includes a licensing agreement that allows Modon to leverage the Wellington International brand and its intellectual property across various strategic markets for future developments. This agreement signifies a deeper collaboration, positioning Modon as a premier sponsor of the Winter Equestrian Festival and the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. These prestigious events attract more than 250,000 spectators and exhibitors each year, further solidifying Wellington’s status in the equestrian calendar.
Modon’s chairman, Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, expressed enthusiasm about this venture, stating, “This strategic investment reflects Modon’s ambition to invest alongside world-class partners that share our vision for excellence in destination development.” He added that expanding into the U.S. demonstrates Modon’s commitment to delivering sustainable destinations that embody quality, innovation, and cultural connection.
Furthermore, WLP’s group chief executive, Bill O’Regan, highlighted that this partnership complements Modon’s focus on integrated lifestyle destinations, combining community, sport, and hospitality. Wellington International offers global recognition and operational expertise that align well with Modon’s projects, such as those at Hudayriyat Island, Ras El Hekma, and La Zagaleta.
Mark Bellissimo, the founder of Wellington Lifestyle Partners, remarked on the collaboration, noting that Modon’s partnership, alongside NEXUS and equestrian expert Murray Kessler, provides an “exceptional blend of expertise” that will be instrumental in enhancing Wellington’s equestrian lifestyle offerings.
This investment not only signifies a financial commitment but also a strategic alignment in visions and values, as both Modon and WLP look to redefine luxury living and equestrian experiences in the U.S. market.
As the development unfolds, it will be interesting to see how this investment reshapes the equestrian landscape in Florida and beyond, potentially attracting more international attention and investment to the region.
