Tragic Loss: Shocking Details Unveiled About the Father of Latin Music Legend Who Passed Away!

Abraham Quintanilla Jr., the father of late Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla, has passed away at the age of 86. His death was announced on Saturday by his son, Abraham “A.B.” Quintanilla III, who shared the news on Instagram, stating, “It’s with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today.” The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Quintanilla Jr. was a pivotal figure in the music industry, known primarily for his role as a music producer who launched his daughter Selena's career. Under his guidance, Selena became a household name, helping to popularize Tejano (Tex-Mex) music before her tragic murder in 1995. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was a second-generation Mexican American who made significant contributions to both his family's musical legacy and the broader music landscape.
In 1963, Quintanilla Jr. married Marcella Samora, and together they had three children: Abraham (born in 1963), Suzette (1967), and Selena (1971). He took a hands-on approach to parenting, teaching his children music from a young age. He spent countless hours helping Selena hone her vocal skills, particularly in Spanish, which played a crucial role in their family's musical group, Selena y Los Dinos. The group began performing in the early ‘80s and shot to fame in the late '80s and early '90s. Selena’s 1994 album, “Amor Prohibido,” became a multiplatinum success just a year before her untimely death.
After Selena's murder, Quintanilla Jr. was determined to carry on her legacy. He executive produced the 1997 film “Selena,” in which actor Edward James Olmos portrayed him. Recently, he appeared in the Netflix documentary “Selena y Los Dinos: A Family’s Legacy,” released in October, further solidifying his commitment to preserving his daughter’s memory and impact on music.
Quintanilla Jr. is survived by his wife, Marcella, and their two children, Abraham III and Suzette, as well as his grandchildren. His passing marks the end of an era not only for his family but for the Tejano music community, which he helped to elevate through his daughter's artistry. The Quintanilla family's story is one of resilience, talent, and enduring love, a narrative that will continue to resonate with fans and followers for generations to come.
