This Saturday, Vinton's Mayor's Race Could Change EVERYTHING—Who Will Grab Power?

VINTON, Texas (KVIA) — Eligible voters in the Village of Vinton will head to the polls this Saturday to determine the town's next mayor in a runoff election. This critical election comes after no candidate secured a majority in the initial voting held in November 2025.

The candidates competing in this runoff are Rachel Quintana and Juvencia Rios Ontiveros. Both women bring unique perspectives and visions for the future of Vinton, which has been experiencing growth and development challenges.

Voting will occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the El Paso County Northwest Annex, located at 435 E. Vinton Rd. The runoff election was necessitated by the November 2025 Uniform and Special Election, where no mayoral candidate received more than 50% of the votes, thus triggering this head-to-head contest in accordance with Texas election law.

The El Paso County Elections Department emphasizes the importance of voter preparedness ahead of Election Day. Voters are encouraged to visit epcountyvotes.com to review their registration status, check voting eligibility, and access personalized sample ballots through the My Voter Dashboard.

For those voting in person, it’s essential to present one of the seven acceptable forms of photo identification. Voters who do not possess an approved ID and cannot reasonably obtain one may complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration at the polling place and provide supporting documentation as permitted by law.

Additionally, voters who applied for a mail-in ballot but decide to vote in person must surrender their mailed ballot at the voting site. If they do not surrender it, they will receive a provisional ballot. This ensures that all votes are counted accurately while adhering to election regulations.

Voters concerned about the timely arrival of their mail ballots can personally deliver their ballots on Election Day, during the same hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Furthermore, curbside ballot delivery will be available on Kansas Street, located on the west side of the Enrique Moreno County Courthouse at 500 E. San Antonio Ave. Again, a valid form of identification is necessary for this option.

If you have any questions or need further information regarding the upcoming election, voters can reach out to the El Paso County Elections Department at (915) 273-3597 or via email at [email protected].

This runoff election not only underscores the democratic process at work in Vinton but also highlights the importance of voter engagement in local governance. A significant turnout could shape the policies and priorities that affect the community's future.
