CANTON — The St. Lawrence University baseball team delivered an impressive performance on Thursday, defeating Vermont State University-Castleton 13-3 in a nonconference matchup at Tom Fay Field. The game marked a significant turnaround for the Saints, who found themselves trailing 2-1 before launching an offensive onslaught in the middle innings.

With just a single run on the board, the Saints ignited their offense in the fifth inning, scoring a remarkable seven runs. They followed this up with four more runs in the sixth inning, establishing a commanding 12-3 lead that ultimately sealed the victory. This win improved St. Lawrence's record to 11-8 for the season.

Leading the charge at the plate was Nolan Widrick, a graduate of South Jefferson, who showcased his skills with a standout performance that included four hits. Teammate Eddie Morrissey also made a significant impact, going 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs, and scoring twice. Other key contributors for the Saints included Riley Reimund, who went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and Jack Growney, who recorded three hits and two RBIs. Both Ethan Harris and Gabe Albertson also added to the offensive surge, each knocking in a run of their own.

On the mound, Shota Kubota set the tone for St. Lawrence, allowing only one earned run over four innings. James Morr earned the win in relief, effectively limiting Castleton to just one additional run across two innings. The Cannoneers improved their record to 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. They then followed up with a dominant performance against Finger Lakes CC, sweeping the doubleheader 13-2 and 18-4, bringing their conference record to 2-0 and overall record to 6-6.
