SCHENECTADY — The St. Lawrence University baseball team showcased remarkable resilience on Saturday, securing a pivotal road victory against Union College with a score of 5-3 in the Liberty League playoffs. This win marked their second consecutive victory in as many days, enabling them to sweep the league crossover series held at Central Park “A” Diamond.
With this latest triumph, the Saints improved their overall record to 20-14, positioning themselves for advancement to the conference’s four-team double elimination tournament scheduled for next weekend. The team's performance not only underscores their competitive spirit but also highlights their strategic prowess as they navigate through the playoff landscape.
In Saturday’s match, pitcher Joe LaPrade delivered an impressive performance, pitching seven innings while scattering nine hits and allowing just three runs and two walks, alongside three strikeouts. His efforts were complemented by Joshua Polumbo, who secured the save after pitching two scoreless innings, marking his second save of the season.
Offensively, Jack Finnegan led the charge with three hits, including a home run and a double, driving in two runs.
