North College Hill High's Shocking Decision: Tyler Williams Takes the Helm—What’s at Stake?

NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio — A new chapter is beginning for the North College Hill High School football program as they announce the hiring of Tyler Williams as their new head coach. The decision comes as part of a significant offseason storyline for Greater Cincinnati high school football, marking an exciting transition for both the school and Williams.

Williams, who previously served as the head coach for Taft High School for five seasons, has a proven track record of success. Under his guidance, the Taft Senators achieved an impressive 11-1 record in the 2025 season, making it to the Division IV regional semifinals. His leadership was pivotal in leading Taft to its first regional title and a state Final Four appearance in 2024, making him the all-time wins leader in the program's history with a remarkable record of 52-12 since 2021.

In a news release, North College Hill City Schools expressed their enthusiasm, stating, "Coach Williams will lead the NCH Trojans football program with passion and purpose." They emphasized his combination of elite playing experience and successful coaching as key to building a "championship culture rooted in accountability, excellence, and opportunity within the community."

Excited about the new opportunity, Williams expressed his gratitude for his time at Taft, where he coached 34 student-athletes who signed with college programs during his tenure. "I just think it was time. It’s a great opportunity that presented itself," he said. He plans to meet the NCH team next week to start building relationships and fostering a positive team culture.

Williams succeeds Greg Conwell, the former NCH coach, who had led the Trojans to an 8-3 record and a playoff berth in 2025. Conwell was recognized as the Southwest District Division V Coach of the Year and MVC Gray Division Coach of the Year. He announced he would not return to coach the team as of December 5, 2025.

North College Hill athletic director Rayshawn Walton expressed confidence in Williams's ability to lead the program effectively, stating, "He has a proven track record. A very impressive resume and a very extensive background." Williams will oversee all aspects of the football program, including player development, staff decisions, and fostering a positive team culture both on and off the field.

Williams, a former standout player at Colerain High School, noted that his experiences in coaching have equipped him to contribute significantly to the North College Hill community. He previously held positions at Colerain and St. Xavier, achieving notable successes in various capacities, including winning Greater Miami Conference and Greater Catholic League championships.

Furthermore, Williams's commitment goes beyond victories on the field. His establishment of Run BY U Sports Performance and Personal Fitness in Mount Healthy showcases his dedication to developing athletes holistically. He has trained several notable athletes, including Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. and Minnesota Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. As he embarks on this new journey with NCH, Williams said, "There is no limit to see how this program can be. I'm excited for that opportunity and challenge."

North College Hill's football team is poised for exciting times ahead as they prepare for their upcoming season, which kicks off on August 21 against St. Bernard-Elmwood Place. With Williams at the helm, the Trojans are hopeful for growth and success, both on the field and within the community.

As the Taft football program begins its search for a new head coach, with the position being posted internally as of January 6, 2026, many will be watching how these transitions impact the high school football landscape in Greater Cincinnati.
