Muny’s 2026 Lineup: Are These Shocking New Hits About to Outshine Classics? Find Out Now!

As summer 2026 approaches, the Muny, the nation’s oldest and largest outdoor musical theatre, is primed to deliver a season filled with joy and community spirit. Recently awarded the Regional Theatre Tony Award, the Muny has unveiled its 108th season lineup, which Artistic Director and Executive Producer Mike Isaacson describes as an ode to spectacle and happiness.

The season kicks off with the beloved musical “Hairspray,” which Isaacson labels a "modern classic" since its Broadway debut in 2002. "It is loved by a generation of musical theatergoers," he commented, noting its potential for grand performances at the Muny. The excitement surrounding this season is palpable, with a lineup that also includes “Shrek The Musical,” “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific,” “Disney’s Newsies,” and “Meet Me in St. Louis.” Adding to the thrill are two Muny premieres: “Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations” and “Something Rotten!”

According to Kwofe Coleman, Muny President & CEO, the theme of joy is woven throughout the entire lineup. "‘Hairspray’ kicks it off, but there is a lot of excitement and happiness to come in this season," he stated. The collection of diverse productions promises to create an engaging experience for audiences.

“Newsies,” another highlight of the season, is described by Isaacson as "an underdog story, a powerful American story, the David and Goliath story—everything we love in a hero’s journey." Meanwhile, the premiere of “Ain’t Too Proud” is generating considerable buzz. “These guys had 42 top ten hits and 15 number one hits,” Isaacson remarked about the legendary group, emphasizing their journey from obscurity to stardom at Motown. Coleman shared his personal enthusiasm for the show, admitting, “I’m not supposed to have a favorite show, but this year, this is my favorite show.”

Adding to the season's allure is the debut of “Something Rotten!”, a satirical take on the world of Shakespeare’s rivals who are trying to invent the musical. Isaacson assures that the full season offers “a true adventure,” which culminates in a beautiful and vibrant experience for all attendees.

The Muny also emphasizes its role as a community hub. Coleman mentioned, “One of the proudest parts of being stewards of this place is that we are a place where community builds itself. We hope this season invites you to do that.” This commitment to community is evident in the affordable pricing for the season. Current Muny subscribers will receive information regarding ticket renewals, with a deadline set for January 12. New season subscriptions start at just $126—which translates to just over $18 per show for seven high-caliber performances.

“That’s $126 for seven shows of this caliber,” Isaacson reiterated. “Seven shows of joy. There’s an opportunity to come and be a part of something special.” The season will run from June 15 through August 23, giving audiences a chance to enjoy musicals under the stars in picturesque Forest Park.

As the Muny prepares for another exciting season, Coleman reflects on his long-standing connection to the venue. “I came here almost three decades ago for a summer job and I never left, because I love what this place is and what it does,” he shared, welcoming audiences to kick off their own traditions with the Muny.

Single-performance tickets will be available starting May 18. For ticket information, gift cards, or audition details, visit muny.org or stop by the Muny Box Office in Forest Park, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This upcoming season at the Muny is set to celebrate everything audiences cherish about this iconic venue—the joy, the spectacle, and the sense of home it fosters in the St. Louis community. As Coleman aptly puts it, “We can’t wait to welcome our community back for another unforgettable summer.”
