In a significant development for Punjab's economic landscape, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially invited the internationally acclaimed DAMAC Group to consider investment opportunities within the province. This invitation came during a meeting held with a high-level delegation from DAMAC, led by CEO Amira Hussain Sajwani and Managing Director Ali Hussain Sajwani. The meeting was marked by a warm reception, reflecting the eagerness of both parties to explore potential collaborations.
During their discussions, there was a mutual agreement to hasten the progress of tokenization for government and commercial assets. The inclusion of a pilot project for tokenizing commercial assets in the Nawaz Sharif IT City was also on the agenda, demonstrating DAMAC Group's keen interest in investing in Punjab's rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Chief Minister Sharif expressed her satisfaction regarding Punjab's proactive embrace of emerging technologies, highlighting the province's ambition to serve as Pakistan's gateway for foreign direct investment in digital assets and advanced technologies. She pointed out that Punjab contributes significantly to the nation's IT sector, accounting for approximately 65 percent of Pakistan’s IT exports. Moreover, the province is home to a burgeoning workforce, with over 25,000 IT graduates entering the market annually, enhancing its position as a hub for technology.
Key cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala are rapidly emerging as vibrant technology hubs, underscoring Punjab's potential in the digital economy. Sharif emphasized that this is a critical moment for investment in Punjab, particularly as the province is rich in opportunities for the youth.
In the meeting, Imran Amin, CEO of CBD Punjab, briefed the delegation on several key projects, including the CBD Quaid District Master Plan, the Serene Tower, a five-star hospitality tower, and a hyper retail mall. These initiatives were presented as part of the robust tokenization opportunities available in both CBD Punjab and RODA, illustrating the province's commitment to driving economic growth.
The interest shown by DAMAC Group not only illuminates potential investment in Punjab but also signals an encouraging shift towards modernization and digitalization within the region.
