LA Fitness in Kingsley Square Is Shutting Down – Find Out Why You Need to Act Fast!

The LA Fitness location at Kingsley Square is set to close its doors in February, as announced via a notice posted at the gym's entrance. This closure aligns with a pattern seen across North Texas, where a series of LA Fitness gyms have shut down in recent months, including the Forest Lane location in northwest Dallas, as well as branches in North Richland Hills and east Plano. Members have until February 10 at 2 p.m. to utilize the facilities before the gym officially closes its doors.
In a gesture of goodwill, LA Fitness is expanding member access to all its locations nationwide, ensuring that gym-goers can continue their fitness journeys even with the impending closure. The nearest remaining LA Fitness is located near the intersection of Greenville Avenue and Lovers Lane.
“We hope we can continue to assist you in pursuing your fitness goals!”
This announcement raises questions about the future of the Kingsley Square property. It remains unclear whether Fitness International, the parent company of LA Fitness, plans to vacate the site completely or if it might introduce one of its other fitness concepts, such as City Sports Club or Club Studio, in its place. As of now, the City of Dallas' online permit database does not show any applications for building or renovation permits linked to the property.
Interestingly, the Kingsley Square area has seen mixed developments recently. Just before the announcement regarding LA Fitness, Tailgaters Sports Bar and Grill closed its doors, but the area has also welcomed new establishments, including UniMarket Fine Latin Foods, which debuted earlier this month, adding a Latin market and food hall to the community.
This closure not only impacts current members but also reflects broader trends in the fitness industry, particularly in the wake of the pandemic, which has forced many gyms to rethink their business models and locations. The fitness landscape is evolving, with many consumers shifting towards smaller boutique gyms and home workouts, raising questions about the sustainability of large chain gyms in certain markets.
As the fitness industry continues to navigate these changes, members of the LA Fitness community are left to consider their options moving forward. The ability to access multiple locations may provide some relief, but the sentiment shared among many members will undoubtedly include a sense of loss as they say goodbye to a familiar space.
