Former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff have made a significant real estate move in Los Angeles, purchasing a new home in the exclusive neighborhood of Point Dume, Malibu for approximately $8.15 million. This purchase marks a shift from one upscale area to another, showcasing their preference for celebrity-adjacent living.

The newly acquired residence spans 4,000 square feet and includes four bedrooms and six bathrooms. Point Dume is known for its stunning coastline and has attracted a mix of Hollywood stars and Silicon Valley moguls in recent years, making it one of the most desirable locations in the region.

Point Dume's reputation as a celebrity haven is well-established. Residents have included A-list actors such as Sean Penn, Gerard Butler, and Julia Roberts. More recently, the tech elite have begun to take notice, with influential figures like venture capitalist Marc Andreessen and Google co-founder Sergey Brin also making Point Dume their home.

The couple's move comes amidst significant changes in Malibu. The area was heavily impacted by the 2018 Woolsey Fire and the 2025 Palisades Fire, but Point Dume has remained relatively unscathed compared to other neighborhoods in Malibu. The location boasts access to Little Dume Beach, famous for one of the best surf breaks in California, which is exclusive to a select group of residents who possess a special access key.

In the months leading up to this purchase, Emhoff has been seen enjoying the neighborhood, suggesting a transition to full-time Malibu living. Although the couple previously resided in a 3,500 square foot home in the nearby Brentwood area, their plans for that property remain unclear following this significant upgrade.

The new Malibu home, originally built in 1979, is set on a three-quarter-acre lot and features a bright main living area characterized by high wood-beamed ceilings, a built-in speaker system, and a cozy gas fireplace. Real estate agent Chris Cortazzo from Compass was responsible for the sale, but neither Harris nor the agent provided comments regarding the transaction.

Harris, who grew up in Northern California, has made Los Angeles her primary residence since marrying Emhoff in 2014. This latest real estate decision not only reflects their personal lifestyle choices but also underscores the ongoing allure of wealthy enclaves in California, where the intersection of entertainment and technology continues to shape residential dynamics.
