Is The Second Sphere About to Change Everything at National Harbor? Don’t Miss This Shocking Reveal!

Maryland is set to welcome an innovative entertainment venue as Sphere Entertainment announces the construction of a second U.S. location at National Harbor. This new venue promises to deliver a unique experience, focusing on next-level technology and immersive entertainment.

While the Las Vegas Sphere seats nearly 19,000 fans, the National Harbor venue will take a more intimate approach with 6,000 seats. However, it won’t compromise on technology. The venue will feature a massive interior LED display, billed as the world’s highest-resolution screen, alongside immersive sound systems, haptic seating, and 4D environmental effects. Its exterior will boast the striking “Exosphere,” a globe-like LED façade that can showcase artistic, branded, and promotional content, transforming the venue into an eye-catching landmark.

“This is more than a building — it’s a new experiential medium,” said James Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment. “Our focus has always been on creating a global network of Spheres across forward-looking cities.”

Dolan’s portfolio includes notable venues such as Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall. The Sphere concept is designed to redefine entertainment, leveraging cutting-edge technology to offer experiences that traditional venues can’t match.

The construction of the National Harbor Sphere is financially supported by approximately $200 million in public and private incentives, pending final government approvals. The venue aims to be a significant economic driver for the area, which already attracts over 15 million visitors annually to National Harbor, home to attractions like the MGM Grand and The Capital Wheel. Local officials anticipate the project will create thousands of construction jobs and additional permanent jobs once the venue opens, contributing millions in new revenue for both the county and the state.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore hailed the project as “one of the largest economic development projects in Prince George’s County history.” County Executive Aisha Braveboy emphasized it as a “world-class win” for the region. Jon Peterson, CEO of Peterson Companies, echoed these sentiments, stating that the Sphere will bolster National Harbor’s reputation as a premier destination for entertainment, conventions, and tourism.

Fans can look forward to a diverse range of events at the National Harbor Sphere, mirroring its Las Vegas counterpart with original immersive productions, concerts, and branded events scheduled throughout the year. The National Harbor Sphere represents the third planned Sphere globally, following a full-scale venue currently under construction in Abu Dhabi. This expansion is part of Sphere Entertainment's broader strategy to establish a global network of next-generation entertainment destinations.

Despite being smaller than its Las Vegas sibling, the National Harbor Sphere is poised to deliver the same cutting-edge technology, artistic spectacle, and economic impact. With its proximity to the nation’s capital, it offers a unique opportunity for Maryland residents and visitors to engage with groundbreaking entertainment in a state-of-the-art setting.
