Jorge Masvidal, the inaugural UFC BMF champion, is eyeing a potential comeback this summer, specifically targeting the much-anticipated UFC event at the White House. Recent rumors have suggested that Masvidal could face off against Conor McGregor, a matchup that has intrigued fans for years. On a recent episode of "The Ariel Helwani Show," Masvidal provided an update on the status of these talks.

"It's not looking bad right now,"

Masvidal said, referring to the prospect of fighting McGregor.

"I can't say too much more, but it's not looking bad right now. They're talking, dialogue has been open, there's communication there, and we'll keep that communication going."

This statement comes after Masvidal, 41, retired from mixed martial arts following a loss to Gilbert Burns in April 2023. However, he made a brief return to competition with a boxing match against Nate Diaz in July 2024. Despite his retirement, Masvidal remains under contract with the UFC and has been in discussions with the organization through his manager, Ali Abdelaziz. He expressed optimism about a possible fight with McGregor, emphasizing the significance of the White House event for his return.

"The White House card is, for me, everything,"

he said.

"I want to be on this card very bad."

"It just might be a chance for me to make some extra income."
