The governor’s visit took place in Junior Achievement’s BizTown, a unique educational facility designed to provide students in elementary and junior high school with hands-on experiences that mirror real-world job responsibilities. Here, students can take on various roles, earn paychecks, and learn about financial management in a simulated town environment. “This place is amazing. This place is inspiring,” Shapiro remarked, reflecting on the potential impact such educational experiences can have on young minds.

While the focus of the event was on vocational education, Shapiro also addressed more immediate concerns, such as an impending winter storm expected to sweep across Pennsylvania. He assured the public that many state agencies were coordinating their responses and that he would be ready to sign an emergency declaration if necessary. “Our team has drilled for this. We trained for this. My hope is it’s not a disruptive storm,” he stated.
