Former House Speaker's SHOCKING Move: What His Run for Lieutenant Governor Means for YOU!

A former Republican Speaker of the Oklahoma House, T.W. Shannon, has officially declared his candidacy for the position of lieutenant governor. As Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell is term-limited, this opens up the race for potential new leadership in the state.

Shannon, who served in the House for eight years and held the position of House Speaker from 2013 to 2014, emphasizes that his leadership skills and track record of accomplishments make him the strongest candidate for the role. During his time in the House, he championed significant reforms in welfare and workers' compensation, showcasing his commitment to impactful policy changes.

Most recently, Shannon served as a senior adviser to the Secretary for Rural Prosperity during the Trump administration, an experience he believes has further shaped his vision for Oklahoma. “I got to see firsthand how, when you have a leader that has a vision, how that can make a difference,” he stated. With a law degree in hand, Shannon aims to bring the same type of America First agenda that he supported at the national level back to his home state, emphasizing the need to apply these principles locally.

Despite previous challenges, including two unsuccessful bids for the U.S. Senate, Shannon remains optimistic about his current campaign. He previously served as the CEO of Chickasaw Community Bank in Oklahoma City and was a member of the Oklahoma Transportation Commission. At 47 years old, Shannon believes his previous campaign experiences have given him valuable name recognition, which he hopes will serve as an asset in this crowded race.

Shannon is one of several candidates vying for the lieutenant governor seat, including seven Republicans, one Democrat, and one independent contender. Formal candidate filing for state and legislative posts is set for April 1-3, providing a clearer picture of the competition ahead. With the political landscape heating up, Shannon's candidacy represents a significant moment for Oklahoma's future leadership.
