Cathedral Green Wave Boys’ Soccer SHOCKINGLY Loses to East Rankin: What Happened Next Will Leave You Speechless!

NATCHEZ — The week proved challenging for the Cathedral Catholic School's varsity boys' soccer team, as the Green Wave faced defeats in both of their matches. Their first game took them to Pelahatchie, where they squared off against East Rankin Academy, a team that head coach Frank Serio characterized as "a state title caliber team."
The clash ended with the East Rankin Academy Patriots overpowering the Cathedral Green Wave, 5-2. Despite the loss, Serio acknowledged the quality of the competition. "It was a really good game for us. They (East Rankin) always have a good team," he said. "It was good to finally get back in action after Christmas and the new year.”
During the match, Cathedral fell behind early, trailing 2-1 at halftime. Tristan Fondren managed to score a goal for Cathedral, but the second half proved even more challenging. Austin Jackson's goal in the latter half briefly reignited hope for the Green Wave, yet the Patriots responded decisively with three additional goals, pulling away to secure their victory.
Green Wave goalkeeper Carter Cook stood out amid the defeat, making a remarkable 10 saves. “In the second half, we had a few players go down with injuries. We couldn’t sustain that,” Serio explained, highlighting the team's struggles to maintain momentum.
As the season progresses, Cathedral will need to regroup and address the injuries that have begun to affect their performance. Consistency and resilience will be crucial as they aim to improve their standing and regain confidence in upcoming matches.
