Brazil's Beach Soccer Team Shocks Fans Again! Can They Clinch the El Salvador Cup Title in a Stunning Showdown?

Brazil’s beach soccer national teams faced a rollercoaster of emotions on Friday, April 3, during the El Salvador Cup held in San Salvador. The men’s team celebrated a decisive victory over Denmark, while the women’s squad suffered a setback against the hosts, El Salvador. This mixed day of results sets the stage for critical final matches with both teams vying for glory.

The men’s match against Denmark started with an unexpected scare. Just six seconds into the game, Denmark’s Wegeberg unleashed a long-range shot that took a wicked bounce in the sand, leaving Brazilian goalkeeper Bobô helpless. Despite this early setback, the Brazilian men, coached by Chicão Castelo Branco, quickly regained their composure and dominated the match. They turned the tide with a stunning 10-3 victory, showcasing their offensive prowess with goals from Mauricinho (2), Antonio, Benjamin Jr., Breno Xavier, Rodrigo, Thanger, and Túlio Silva, alongside two own goals from Damm, who also managed to score twice for Denmark.

“Thank God we managed another good win here at the El Salvador Cup, which puts us in an important position in the race for the title,” said Benjamin Jr., wearing the number 7 jersey. “We’ll stay focused on what we need to do going into the final match against El Salvador and leave the field with another victory. It won’t be easy; their fans really get behind them, but we’ll give our all to bring this trophy back to Brazil.”

In stark contrast, the Brazilian women's national team faced a challenging match against the home team, El Salvador. They needed a win to keep their championship hopes alive but ultimately fell short, losing 6-4. The Brazilian squad struggled to break through El Salvador’s defensive setup, which was energized by the support of a packed home crowd. Taii managed to score twice, contributing to Brazil’s total alongside Cecília and Giulia.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t get the result we wanted in this match, which was the win,” Taii commented after the match. “Now we have to regroup and analyze what we did wrong so we can go into the final round with confidence, say goodbye to the competition with a victory, and carry that confidence into the next tournament,” referring to the upcoming Acapulco Beach Soccer Cup, a women’s tournament scheduled for the following week in Mexico.

Looking ahead, the final round of the El Salvador Cup is set for Saturday, April 4. The women's team will kick off the day against Mexico at 3:30 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. Brasília time), while the men’s team will conclude the day’s matches against El Salvador at 8 p.m. local time (11 p.m. Brasília time).
