You Won't Believe How Box2Burn is Transforming Fitness: Join the Boxing Craze Before It’s Too Late!

WESTFORD — A former mattress store on Littleton Road has undergone a remarkable transformation into Box2Burn, a high-energy boxing fitness studio that has quickly become a staple in the Westford community. Located at 174 Littleton Rd, the studio opened its doors about a year ago, following a successful decade at its previous site. Owner Sean Eklund noted that the move was prompted by the gym's rapid growth, stating, “It started small and we kind of outgrew it, which is good.”
The renovation of the new space commenced in February and involved extensive work to convert the former retail area into a fully functional boxing fitness facility. Eklund mentioned that significant adjustments were necessary to meet the specific requirements of a Box2Burn gym, saying, “Of course, like anything with construction, you always run into certain things.”
Despite the new facility being three and a half times larger than its predecessor, Eklund expressed surprise at how quickly the space filled up. “Even though it’s a bigger space, it did kind of fill up relatively quick,” he explained. This rapid success can be attributed to the unique approach that Box2Burn takes towards boxing fitness.
Inspired by his experiences training at Gold’s Gym in Chelmsford, which was owned by his uncle, Micky Ward, Eklund's vision for the gym was to make boxing accessible to everyone, especially those who feel intimidated by the sport. “Before, we always heard, ‘Oh, I don’t want to box, I don’t want to get hit,’” he said, emphasizing that clients don’t have to face physical contact to reap the benefits of boxing training.
Eklund highlighted that Box2Burn allows individuals to experience the intensity of a professional boxer’s workout without the risk of injury. “If you can do a legitimate boxer’s workout, like how we train for a pro fight, minus the getting hit part, then you have the best of both worlds,” he stated, pointing out that it is one of the best full-body workouts available.
The gym's classes are designed to engage participants by combining cardio, strength, and technique in a fun and supportive atmosphere. “It is one of the best full-body workouts, and it’s fun,” Eklund said. The classes offer a variety of experiences from boxing to strength and conditioning, kettlebell training, cardio, and pilates, all scheduled throughout the day for accessibility.
Eklund noted that many people experience a fear of judgment when trying something new, especially in a fitness setting. “Everybody remembers their first class,” he said, reassuring prospective newcomers that the gym fosters a motivating environment where everyone supports each other. The trainers, all experienced in boxing, are skilled at meeting clients at their individual fitness levels, creating a sense of community among seasoned athletes and beginners alike.
Getting through the front door, Eklund observed, is often the hardest part. “We always say the toughest piece of equipment in the gym to use is the front door,” he joked, underscoring the common challenge of overcoming initial apprehensions about starting a fitness journey. Yet, once individuals make that leap, they find themselves welcomed into a supportive community dedicated to personal growth and fitness.
As Box2Burn celebrates its first anniversary in its new location, Eklund takes pride in not just the physical transformations of his clients but also the social connections that develop. “It’s seeing the progress in the person from somebody who comes in as a beginner, and then months down the road you see them again,” he said, reflecting on the rewarding aspects of running the gym.
With its unique approach and community-focused environment, Box2Burn continues to thrive in Westford, offering a dynamic alternative to traditional fitness routines and changing perceptions about boxing as a form of exercise.
