California’s Governor Race Takes a SHOCKING Turn: What This Dark Horse Just Revealed in Patterson!

The race for the next governor of California is gaining momentum as candidates ramp up their campaigns across the state. Among them is Ian Calderon, who, despite entering the race just three months ago, brings a wealth of experience and ambition to the table. A familiar face in California politics, Calderon made history in 2012 as the first millennial elected to the California legislature. By 2016, he became the youngest Majority Leader in state history and, upon leaving the legislature in 2020, had established himself as the longest-serving Majority Leader. His political career, however, took a backseat to family commitments as he chose to dedicate time to his wife and their four children, aged four to eight.
Calderon's decision to re-enter politics and run for governor in 2026 stems from a deeply personal conversation with his wife about their children's future. The couple expressed concern over the rising trends in homeownership, particularly in California, where the median home price has skyrocketed to over $800,000. Notably, only about 55% of Californians own their homes—more than 10% lower than the national average. Calderon highlighted this alarming statistic, emphasizing that the current $7,000 tax credit homeowners receive has not changed since 1978, a stark contrast to what it could have been if it had kept pace with inflation—approximately $70,000 today.
Adding to the challenge for first-time homebuyers, Calderon pointed out that large corporations currently own approximately 1.45 million homes in California, making it increasingly difficult for individuals and families to compete in the housing market. In response, he proposes implementing substantial upfront fees on these corporations, which could be used to fund programs aimed at assisting first-time buyers. Furthermore, Calderon advocates for a variety of tax relief options for homeowners to alleviate the financial burden they face.
On November 19, Calderon made a rare campaign stop in Patterson, a small city that has not previously hosted a candidate for governor. The event, held at the RM Ranch, attracted a crowd of several dozen supporters eager to hear his vision for California. Introduced by local figure Channce Condit, Calderon spoke passionately for about 45 minutes, centering his address on homeownership while also fielding questions that spanned a range of pressing issues facing the state.
His vision for California includes a call for a new generation of leadership capable of innovative thinking to tackle the challenges ahead. As his campaign develops, Californians will be looking for detailed solutions and principles that resonate with their own concerns. For now, the visit to Patterson serves as a crucial reminder of Calderon’s commitment to engaging with communities across the state.
