Big Sky Residents: Your Health Could Be at Risk! Are You Ready to Join This Shocking Study?

Bozeman Health is embarking on its tri-annual Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), collaborating with the Gallatin City-County Health Department, Human Resource Development Council, and One Health. This essential survey aims to capture the health landscape of Gallatin County, identifying local health needs, barriers to care, and priorities that will shape community health strategies through 2029. Residents are encouraged to participate in the confidential survey, which is available online until April 30. A Spanish-language version will also be accessible online, ensuring inclusivity in feedback gathering.

The CHNA will utilize a combination of phone and online surveys, along with targeted questionnaires and a thorough review of existing public health data. Following the assessment, a comprehensive Community Health Action Plan will be developed and led by Bozeman Health to implement the findings derived from this data collection.

According to Lori Christenson, health officer for the Gallatin City-County Health Department, “

Gallatin County is continuing to grow and change rapidly, and the needs of our community are evolving with it. We are making sure that our public health efforts are grounded in what residents are actually experiencing.

” This statement reflects the dynamic shifts in community health needs, underscoring the necessity for ongoing assessment and adaptation of health services.

The results of the CHNA will significantly influence how Bozeman Health allocates resources, providing valuable data not only for their organization but also for other local groups like the nonprofit Wellness In Action. Kiernan Volden, director of programs for Wellness In Action, emphasized the importance of the survey data, stating, “

Data from the CHNA survey is essential to Wellness in Action’s work. It helps us understand where gaps in services exist, informs how we adapt or build programs, and provides the evidence needed to advocate for funding. Ultimately, survey data ensures WIA’s work is aligned with the real needs of our community.

In addition to the online survey, an independent research firm, Professional Research Consultants, will conduct confidential phone surveys from a 406-area code through the end of May. The firm assures that all responses will be confidential, with results reported in summary form to maintain anonymity. This dual approach aims to enhance the scope and reliability of the data collected, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the community’s health landscape.

The findings from the most recent CHNA, released in 2023, are anticipated to play a crucial role in shaping health initiatives and policies in Gallatin County. The data gathered will be instrumental in addressing the evolving health needs of residents, guiding local organizations in optimizing their services and interventions.

As Gallatin County continues to expand, this assessment comes at a crucial time, offering residents a chance to voice their experiences and needs. With the closing date for the survey approaching, community participation is not just encouraged—it is essential for fostering a healthier future in Gallatin County.
