Eugene Mirman’s Life Hangs in the Balance: You Won’t Believe Who Saved Him from the Flames!

BEDFORD, N.H. (AP) — Eugene Mirman, the voice behind the beloved character Gene Belcher from the animated series “Bob’s Burgers,” is recovering after a serious car accident on Tuesday. The incident occurred just before noon when Mirman’s electric vehicle struck the Bedford Toll Plaza, leading to a fiery wreck.
New Hampshire State Police reported that Mirman, 51, was rescued from the burning vehicle by a state trooper who was part of the security detail for Republican Governor Kelly Ayotte. The governor and her team were passing the scene shortly after the crash. Trooper Mark Hall noted that the quick actions of the trooper and two other bystanders were instrumental in saving Mirman’s life, as they managed to pull him through a window to safety. Ayotte herself exited her vehicle to retrieve a fire extinguisher, although she was not in danger during the incident.
“Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” Mirman’s agent, Jay Glassner, confirmed in a statement on Wednesday. “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders, and hospital staff who saved him. He is grateful to be on the mend. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.”
State Police Colonel Mark Hall praised the heroic actions of those involved in the rescue. “Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it,” Hall stated, emphasizing the bravery displayed in a chaotic situation.
Mirman, who was born in Moscow and raised in Massachusetts, has become a staple in American comedy through his work on “Bob’s Burgers,” which has aired for over a decade. He has lent his voice to Gene Belcher in more than 300 episodes and the film adaptation of the series. In addition to his role in “Bob’s Burgers,” Mirman is also known for his work on “Flight of the Conchords,” “Delocated,” and “Archer.”
Governor Ayotte expressed her thoughts and prayers for Mirman and commended the quick response of the trooper and bystanders, stating, “I want to thank the Trooper on my security detail and the bystanders who stepped up to help at the scene of the crash for their brave lifesaving efforts.”
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and as of now, no charges have been filed. Mirman's accident has sparked conversations about road safety, especially given the increasing prevalence of electric vehicles on American roads. While electric cars are generally seen as a cleaner alternative to gas-powered vehicles, this incident raises questions about their safety in high-impact scenarios.
As Mirman continues his recovery, fans of “Bob’s Burgers” and the broader comedy community are likely to rally around him, reflecting on both his contributions to entertainment and the unexpected fragility of life. In a world where celebrities often seem invincible, incidents like these remind us that anyone can face challenges, reinforcing our shared humanity.
