Ekinops Just Bought a French Cybersecurity Startup—What This Shocking Move Means for Your Data!

PARIS, March 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- EKINOPS (Euronext Paris - FR0011466069 - EKI), a prominent provider of optical networks and cybersecurity solutions, has announced the acquisition of French cybersecurity company Chimere. This strategic move allows Ekinops to strengthen its offerings in the rapidly expanding market of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) cybersecurity solutions.
Chimere is recognized for its innovative Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution, which enables secure interconnectivity between endpoints and enterprise resources. This technology serves as a robust alternative to traditional enterprise VPN technologies and firewalls, particularly supporting emerging work models like digital nomadism and remote collaboration with third parties. The ZTNA solution is available through a subscription model, including options for Software as a Service (SaaS), hybrid, or on-premises deployment.
The acquisition aligns with Ekinops' strategic plan, particularly following its purchase of Olfeo in May 2025, which also focused on enhancing cybersecurity capabilities. This combined effort is part of Ekinops' mission to position itself as a leader in the high-growth SASE market. The integration of Chimere will significantly accelerate Ekinops' time-to-market for SASE solutions, reinforcing its status as a leading European provider while meeting both European and global market demands.
With this acquisition, Ekinops expands its SASE portfolio, ranking among a select group of global 'Single Vendor SASE' companies and standing out as the sole European representative in this elite category. Additionally, Ekinops claims the distinction of being the world's only vendor offering SD-WAN, SSE, and Universal ZTNA with options for on-premises deployment.
The transaction involves Ekinops acquiring 100% of Chimere's shares and is expected to be finalized before March 31, 2026. Notably, Ekinops has indicated that this acquisition will not significantly impact its financial statements for 2026.
Lionel Chmilewsky, CEO of Ekinops, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition: "We're especially enthusiastic about this acquisition which speeds up the Ekinops group ability to reach its ambitions to become the European SASE leader. By combining our technologies and our business assets, we can attack new, high growth markets with a truly differentiated offer. Chimere has already highly satisfied customers, and Ekinops is looking forward to offering this Chimere ZTNA solution to its own customers and prospects."
Guillaume-Alexandre Chaizy, CEO of Chimere, added: "The Ekinops-Chimere combination delivers a fully trusted European cybersecurity portfolio, a true benefit for customers in the region. We are very excited to join the Ekinops team and take our part in building a European SASE leader that can serve the world together."
This acquisition marks a significant step for Ekinops, not just in terms of its product offerings but also in establishing itself as a formidable player in the cybersecurity landscape. As organizations increasingly seek robust and flexible cybersecurity solutions in today’s digital environment, Ekinops' enhanced capabilities could position it well to meet the growing demands of enterprises navigating complex security challenges.
