Top College Football Star's Shocking Commitment Date Revealed—Fans Are Left Reeling!

The race to secure commitments from the top college football prospects for 2027 has heated up significantly in the early months of the 2026 offseason. With many players already making their college decisions, there’s still a substantial amount of action left as the early signing period approaches. Prospects are actively visiting schools and narrowing down their options, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation within the college football community.

One standout in this class is five-star quarterback Elijah Haven, a towering 6-foot-5, 215-pound talent from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. According to 247Sports, he is not only the top quarterback in the class but also the number one player in Louisiana and ranks second overall nationally. As the starting quarterback at Dunham School, Haven has built an impressive resume, amassing a staggering 9,229 passing yards, 134 touchdowns, and only 17 interceptions over his three seasons. Additionally, he has rushed for 2,383 yards and 44 touchdowns, showcasing his dual-threat capability.

Haven's prowess extends beyond the football field; he has also made a mark in basketball, leading Dunham to state semifinal appearances in 2024 and 2025. His accolades include being named to the Louisiana 2A All-State Second Team as a freshman and earning District and Defensive MVP honors as a sophomore. This multidimensional talent has drawn the attention of numerous high-profile college programs.

“Elijah Haven is a supersized quarterback that is going to have a chance to be the face of a franchise with his tools,” said Andrew Ivins, director of scouting at 247Sports, in a December report, likening him to former Florida and NC State quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

Despite the influx of interest from elite programs, Haven is methodically trimming his list of potential schools. Reports from Justin Smith of Touchdown Alabama indicate that April 25 could mark his commitment date, with four SEC schools in contention for this highly coveted prospect.

The SEC Contenders

The first major player in Haven's recruiting saga is the Alabama Crimson Tide, who offered him a scholarship back in June 2025. Haven has maintained a strong rapport with Alabama's coaching staff, attending their junior day in January along with three game visits. The Tide have secured commitments from quarterback prospects Jett Thomalla and Tayden-Evan Kaawa for their 2026 class, while Trent Seaborn stands as their highest-rated commitment for 2027.

Auburn has also shown interest, extending a scholarship to Haven in September 2024. He visited Auburn multiple times, most notably for the Iron Bowl and their junior day earlier this year. With only one freshman quarterback—three-star Rhys Brush—joining their 2026 roster, the Tigers are positioning themselves for a significant recruitment.

In addition, the Florida Gators were the first program to offer Haven a scholarship in December 2023. He made two visits to Florida in 2025, including one for a high-profile game against Texas. With the addition of Aaron Philo, a transfer from Georgia Tech, and four-star recruit Will Griffin in their 2026 class, Florida is making moves to bolster their quarterback lineup.

Lastly, Georgia has entered the mix, providing Haven with an offer during a camp in June 2025. He attended a Georgia game against Texas in November 2025, adding to their recruiting efforts after experiencing a significant loss when five-star quarterback Jared Curtis flipped his commitment to Vanderbilt. To counter this setback, Georgia has brought in former Oregon quarterback signee Bryson Beaver via the transfer portal.

As the 2027 recruiting landscape unfolds, the choices of elite prospects like Haven will shape the future of college football at these storied programs. With his commitment date approaching, fans and analysts alike are eager to see where this promising quarterback will land. The implications of his decision will resonate not only within the SEC but across the entire college football landscape.
