NYC’s First Infrared Yoga Studio Promises Shocking Weight Loss Results—Find Out How!

Adam Shane, the former chief development officer and executive vice president of operations at Barry’s, is set to make a significant mark in New York City’s fitness landscape by opening two Yoga Joint studios this year. This move signals a shift from the ambiance of Barry’s famous red lights to the calming blue of Yoga Joint’s infrared heated studios, but rest assured, there’s no cooling down in his ambition.

Shane has secured the franchising rights for the New York territory of this Florida-born fitness brand, with plans to open the first two locations in fall 2026. One studio will be situated at 470 Park Ave. South in Midtown Manhattan, while the other will find its home at 267 Kent Ave. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Shane’s long-term vision extends beyond these initial openings; he aims to establish over 15 locations across New York City and its surrounding areas, including Westchester, Long Island, Greenwich, Connecticut, Hoboken, and Jersey City by 2030.

Shane’s journey with Barry’s began in 2011 when he encountered the brand as a client. His love for the workout eventually led him to spend more than 13 years scaling the brand's reach and operations. His introduction to Yoga Joint came in 2021 while searching for a workout alternative post-COVID. It was the standout programming that drew him in, with Yoga Joint offering two core class formats: Flow, a 60-minute vinyasa-style yoga class, and FIIT, a 45-minute strength and cardio conditioning class utilizing free weights and resistance bands—all within infrared-heated studios designed for all fitness levels.

“You can be advanced, you can be a beginner,” Shane told Athletech News. “I think the beauty of Yoga Joint is that it’s for everyone. You can always lift heavier. You can always lift lighter.”

In a city bustling with Pilates studios, Shane’s decision to introduce a unique yoga concept offers a refreshing alternative. “Pilates is having a sort of fitness moment, and it’s great,” he noted. “There’s room for a lot of different things in fitness.” This sentiment aligns with broader industry trends; the global Pilates and yoga studio market was valued at approximately $120 billion in 2025 and is projected to escalate to $521 billion by 2035, according to Allied Market Research.

What sets Yoga Joint apart is not just its programming but also its aesthetic appeal, which matches the high standards of boutique fitness. The studios will feature a spot-booking system that allows members to reserve specific spots ahead of time, a valuable convenience in the crowded fitness landscape of New York City.

“When you go into the room, it’s a dark room,” Shane explained. “It’s got really cool lighting that changes with the workout. You’ve got an instructor guiding. It really has that high energy, which I loved about Barry’s, frankly. So this has that element of high energy, fun music, all incorporated into what I call a fully immersive experience.”

Founded in 2010 by Paige Held in South Florida, Yoga Joint has already expanded to 17 locations across the state, with national expansion now underway. Shane took his time to build relationships with Held and the brand’s parent company leadership before finalizing the New York territory deal in late 2024.

The New York build-out is supported by a diverse group of investors from sectors including fitness, real estate, finance, and entertainment. The Park Avenue South studio will encompass 6,300 square feet spread across ground and basement levels, while the Williamsburg location will occupy 4,500 square feet on the ground floor. After the initial openings, Shane plans to roll out an ambitious four to five new locations each year.

Before the official studio openings, Yoga Joint New York plans to create buzz in the city through pop-up events, including participation in Bryant Park Yoga this summer, to engage potential clients and build community connections.

“What’s really important to me is building a team-first culture that truly takes care of its clients and its community with hospitality and service,” Shane emphasized.

With Shane at the helm, Yoga Joint is poised to bring a new energy to the New York fitness scene, making it a compelling option for fitness enthusiasts seeking innovative, high-energy workouts that cater to all levels.
