The Georgia House of Representatives, the Georgia Senate, and Governor Brian Kemp have signed the Amended Fiscal Year (AFY) 2026 budget into law, which includes essential investments aimed at enhancing dental services, particularly for underserved and rural communities.

The budget allocates $150,000 to the Georgia Mission of Mercy (GMOM) program and $3.2 million to support rural health clinics. Despite these advancements, Georgia continues to grapple with a shortage of dental professionals, especially in rural regions. Approximately 40 counties in Georgia have one or no practicing dentists, which underscores the need for funding directed towards rural health clinics.
