Alberto Carvalho's Mysterious $10 Million Real Estate Empire: What LAUSD Doesn't Want You to Know!

Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superintendent Alberto Carvalho is facing federal scrutiny as investigations unfold regarding allegations of fraud and corruption. This scrutiny coincides with the revelation of Carvalho's substantial real estate portfolio, which is reported to be valued at over $5.5 million across California and Florida.
Carvalho, who previously served as the Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools for more than a decade, has been the head of LAUSD since 2022. His involvement with the district has recently come under fire, particularly as federal agents conducted searches of his San Pedro home, LAUSD headquarters in downtown Los Angeles, and a Miami property linked to an ongoing investigation. The precise details of the investigation, including an affidavit filed regarding the searches, remain sealed.
Among his properties, Carvalho and his wife, Maria, own at least six homes in Broward County, Florida, and one in Los Angeles. His main residence in San Pedro is a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home valued at approximately $1.6 million, according to Zillow. The multi-floor single-family home spans around 2,000 square feet.
Carvalho's most valuable property appears to be his 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom home in Miami Shores, which carries an estimated value of $2.4 million and encompasses 3,576 square feet. Additionally, he owns two Miami condos valued at around $1.4 million. His other properties in Fort Lauderdale are worth approximately $1.3 million combined.
As Superintendent, Carvalho earns an annual salary of $440,000, having signed a new four-year contract last year. The investigation is reportedly linked to a failed AI initiative, specifically a company named AllHere, which created a chatbot program designed for LAUSD. Carvalho's leadership in this project raised questions after it was ultimately pulled.
The property at the center of the Miami raid belongs to Debra Kerr, one of the leaders at AllHere. Amid this unfolding situation, the LAUSD released a statement confirming that they are cooperating with law enforcement during the investigation, while noting that further information remains limited.
This ongoing saga raises significant questions not only about Carvalho's professional dealings but also about the broader implications for LAUSD and its leadership. As the investigation develops, stakeholders within the educational community and the public will undoubtedly be watching closely to see how these allegations unfold and what they mean for the future of the district.
