In an exciting development for football fans, former Nevada high school football star and Oklahoma Sooner standout DeMarco Murray is making his return to the NFL, this time as part of the coaching staff for the Kansas City Chiefs. Reports indicate that Murray will take on the role of running backs coach under head coach Andy Reid.

Murray is no stranger to the gridiron. He excelled at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, leading the team to three conference championships and earning all-conference honors for three consecutive seasons. During his senior year, he rushed for an impressive 1,947 yards and scored 27 touchdowns, in addition to 624 yards receiving and seven touchdowns. His outstanding performance earned him all-state honors and the title of the 2005 Sunset Region Offensive Player of the Year.

In 2006, Murray showcased his talents in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, where he attracted offers from prestigious programs, ultimately committing to Oklahoma over notable schools like Miami, Penn State, Texas A&M, and Southern Cal.

At Oklahoma, Murray found his footing in a crowded backfield, recording over 1,000 rushing yards in two seasons and another year with over 1,000 yards from scrimmage. He finished his college career as the program leader in several categories, including total touchdowns, all-purpose yards, and receiving yards by a running back. Over his time at Oklahoma, he amassed 3,685 rushing yards, 50 rushing touchdowns, 13 receiving touchdowns, and two kickoff return touchdowns.

Drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, Murray quickly made an impact, rushing for nearly 900 yards and scoring two touchdowns in his rookie season. Over the course of his NFL career, he played for the Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tennessee Titans, accumulating a total of 1,604 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns across 99 games.

His standout season came in 2014 with the Cowboys, where he rushed a staggering 392 times for 1,845 yards and scored 13 touchdowns, also adding 57 receptions for 416 yards. During this remarkable year, he received multiple accolades, including being named a three-time Pro Bowler, making the All-Pro first team, and winning the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.

Transitioning to coaching, Murray began his career at Arizona in 2019 before returning to Oklahoma in 2020 as their running backs coach. Under his guidance, the Sooners developed strong running back units, showcasing his ability to cultivate talent.
