The University of Oxford has claimed the top spot in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Ranking for computer science, marking a significant achievement for the institution known as the oldest university in the U.K. This accolade is attributed to Oxford's exceptional teaching quality and its strong international outlook, as highlighted in the latest rankings released on January 25, 2026.

The global landscape of computer science education remains dominated by institutions from the U.S. and the U.K. Two noteworthy exceptions include ETH Zurich in Switzerland, which ranked third, and Peking University in China, securing the tenth position. The highest-ranking U.S. institution in this year's list is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which stands in fourth place.
