Carson Beck, the former quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes, is shifting his focus to the NFL after a standout collegiate career. The 2025 season marked a historic moment for the Hurricanes, who finished with an impressive 13 wins and only three losses. However, their season ended in heartbreak, falling 27-21 to the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff National Championship. This monumental game was Miami's first title appearance in 23 years but was marred by a series of mistakes, including a missed field goal and a blocked punt returned for a touchdown.

Beck's final play in college football was a painful one; with less than a minute remaining and Miami driving for a potential game-tying score, he threw a deep pass intended for wide receiver Keelan Marion. Unfortunately for Beck, it was intercepted, sealing the loss and ending his college eligibility. After spending five seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs and one with Miami, the 23-year-old now turns his sights toward the NFL.

Prospects for Beck in the NFL Draft

In the 2023 season, Beck emerged as Georgia's starting quarterback and was projected as a potential first-round pick in the NFL Draft. However, his 2024 season was marred by inconsistency and an arm injury that affected his performance. Despite these setbacks, he remains an intriguing prospect, particularly as the 2026 NFL quarterback class is viewed as lacking top-tier talent.

ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. currently ranks Beck as the No. 5 quarterback in this draft class, trailing behind Drew Allar, Trinidad Chambliss, Ty Simpson, and Fernando Mendoza. Beck's ranking could improve, especially if Chambliss decides to return to Ole Miss for another season. Given the circumstances, teams in need of a quarterback may see Beck as a valuable option, particularly after his resurgence during Miami’s postseason run.

According to Hard Rock Bet, several teams are emerging as potential destinations for Beck, including the Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Miami Dolphins. Notably, Bleacher Report's Alex Kay points to the Rams as perhaps the best fit for him, especially in light of Matthew Stafford's uncertain future. Kay suggests that Beck could compete for the starting role as early as his rookie season, leveraging his vast experience from a decorated college career.

“He has a wealth of experience stemming from a decorated collegiate career that saw him spend five seasons at Georgia — including two as the starter — before finishing it out with a romp through the CFP bracket at Miami,” Kay wrote. “While his upside is limited compared to some of the other elite prospects in the class, Beck could be a strong game manager for a Rams team that can find ways to win with a powerful running game and strong defense.”

Conversely, Kay identified the Cleveland Browns as a less favorable option for Beck, highlighting the franchise's notorious instability at the quarterback position. In 2025 alone, the Browns cycled through three different quarterbacks, rotating between veteran Joe Flacco and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. "Introducing Beck into the equation would put unnecessary pressure on Sanders while also limiting the Miami product’s own chances of getting on the field,” Kay noted.

As the NFL Draft approaches, Carson Beck stands out as one of the more captivating quarterback evaluations in the 2026 class. His transition from a high-pressure college environment to the professional level will be closely watched, as he aims to establish himself in a league known for its fierce competition and often unforgiving nature.
