You Won't Believe What Happened at This Year's Shocking Cola Rosé Shower for Women's Health!

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The 5th Annual Cola Rosé Shower is set to take place on February 7, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium’s The Zone. This exciting event aims not only to celebrate women but also to raise awareness about critical, often overlooked issues in women’s health.

According to the event's website, the Cola Rosé Shower "blends fun, fashion, and philanthropy while bringing awareness to critical, yet often overlooked women’s health issues." A notable highlight of this year's event will be the collection of feminine hygiene donations, which will be distributed to Sistercare and The Period Project in the Midlands.

Last year, attendees generously collected and donated a staggering 62,000 feminine hygiene products, providing Sistercare with eight months' worth of supplies. This kind of support is crucial, as statistics reveal a troubling reality: according to Period.org, one in three women in the United States has experienced period poverty. This means they have faced the difficult choice between purchasing food or essential feminine hygiene products.

In South Carolina specifically, the challenges are stark. Reports indicate that two in five individuals with periods have missed school or work due to inadequate access to period supplies. Additionally, one in four students struggles to afford these necessary products, which can lead to feelings of shame and unhealthy substitutes for standard menstrual cycle supplies.

“When we support each other, we rise together and change lives. So, grab your tickets, put on your best pink wardrobe, and join us in celebrating women while bringing awareness to women’s healthcare. And yes, men are not only welcome but encouraged to join, too,” said Deonna Wylie, founder of the Cola Rosé Shower.

Individual tickets for the event start at $80, and attendees must be 21 or older. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite shade of pink and bring a donation of feminine hygiene products. Ticket prices include unlimited rosé and frosé, food from Southern Way Catering, and dance music from Shejay T.O.

In the lead-up to the event, local businesses are joining the cause by hosting "proceed nights." For instance, on January 29, the Village Idiot Pizza location in Columbia’s Five Points will donate a percentage of all sales made between 4 p.m. and midnight. Owner Brian Glynn recently visited the WIS studio to discuss this initiative.

Another local business, Fab’rik, located off Forest Drive in Columbia, is also getting involved. On January 23, 20% of all sales made that day will be dedicated to the Cola Rosé Shower. These collaborative efforts underline the community's commitment to addressing women's health issues and combating period poverty.

Additionally, Cola Rosé Shower is conducting a donation drive for various feminine hygiene products. From now until February 5, anyone can drop off pads, tampons, panty liners, hygiene wipes, period underwear (not diapers), and over-the-counter pain relievers for menstrual cramps at designated locations including:
