Kandi Burruss’ Shocking Transformation: You Won’t Recognize Her After THIS January Health Update!

Kandi Burruss is embracing a year of transformation, and she’s not shy about sharing her journey. Less than two weeks into 2026, the *Real Housewives of Atlanta* alum took to Instagram to update her followers on her fitness progress, showcasing a series of selfies taken backstage at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, where she’s currently starring in the Broadway production of *& Juliet*.
In her post on January 11, Burruss revealed that she started her Broadway run at around 161 pounds but has since slimmed down to 145 pounds in just under two months. “No diet meds. Just a little stress… & then changed my eating, prayer, fasting, & working on me. I gotta keep this going! Gonna be the best version of myself!” she wrote. Her commitment to fitness is further evident as she celebrated her increasingly visible abdominal muscles in her Stories, exclaiming, “My abs are coming back! On my way back to being my best self!”
Kandi's Commitment to Health and Fitness
Burruss has been open about the adjustments to her health and fitness regimen since securing her three-month role on Broadway. She frequently shares insights into her workout routines and training sessions alongside Kory Phillips, owner of Lovely Bodies Health & Fitness Gym and the Shake Sum Cafe Nutritional Company.
Just days before her debut in *& Juliet*, she shared an honest video reflecting on a tough yet brief workout, stating, "I'm tired. I didn’t even do no full workout today, so I already know that Kory is gonna be talking trash about me.” She laughed, acknowledging the challenge of squeezing in a workout amid her busy schedule. However, she applauded herself for making the effort, admitting, “Sometimes you’re not gonna be able to give a whole hour.”
In a supportive response, Phillips commended her for showing up, noting the growth she has experienced. “You could’ve easily done nothing, and there was a time in your life when you wouldn’t have showed up. But TODAY you did. That’s major growth. You actually motivated me today, because I know you’re tired, but you still pushed through. Reason number 190,886,688,566,444 why you’re the GOAT.”
A Candid Look at Weight Management
Burruss's journey toward her current weight loss isn’t without its challenges. In a 2024 interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, she candidly discussed her struggles with weight gain after announcing her exit from *Real Housewives of Atlanta*. She described indulging in life’s pleasures, stating, “Now, mind you, I was already 10 pounds over my desired weight at the top of the year. But then, when I announced that I was not going to do Housewives anymore, I was eating dessert every day, taking trips, just living it up. Before I knew it, I was 170 pounds, and it was not cute.”
Motivated by comments about her weight gain and a newfound desire to feel youthful as she approached her 48th birthday, Burruss decided to intensify her workouts and refine her diet. She expressed her determination: “That was it for me. Something about turning 48, I was like, ‘I definitely want to live my best life, but I want to be one of those chicks that, always, you can never tell my age by the way I look.’”
Kandi Burruss's transformation journey embodies resilience and determination, reflecting a broader conversation about health, self-acceptance, and the pressures of public life. As she continues her Broadway journey, her dedication to becoming the best version of herself resonates with many, emphasizing that change is possible with perseverance and the right mindset. As she puts it best, “Gonna be the best version of myself!”
