Dionne Warwick, Saweetie, and Mya Just Made a Shocking Climate Change Pledge—Will It Change Everything?

In a powerful collaboration aimed at raising awareness about climate change and the devastating impact of deforestation, music icons Dionne Warwick, Saweetie, and Mya are set to release a new rendition of the song “One Heart (Can Change The World),” originally penned by acclaimed songwriter Diane Warren. This track will serve as the title song for the upcoming animated film, Ozi: Voice of the Forest, which highlights the dire consequences of environmental degradation, particularly in light of the catastrophic Los Angeles wildfires of 2025.

The film, directed by Mike Medavoy and produced through Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions and GCI Film, features a star-studded voice cast including Laura Dern, Amandla Stenberg, Donald Sutherland, Djimon Hounsou, RuPaul Charles, Dean Charles Chapman, and Urzila Carlson. The story revolves around an orangutan named Ozi, who becomes separated from her parents and utilizes her influence to save them and their forest home from threats posed by deforestation.

Both the film and the accompanying song aim to shine a spotlight on the pressing issue of climate change. The emotional weight of the project is underscored by the personal experiences of both Damon Elliott, the Grammy-winning producer of the song, and Warren, who lost their homes in the fires that ravaged the region last January. “I am honored to have produced this song, and have it support this cause, as I was personally affected by these tragic fires a year ago,” Elliott remarked. “I lost my home and literally everything in it. Ozi definitely tugs at my heartstring as it deals with fires caused by climate change.”

Warren also expressed her inspiration, stating, “I was inspired to write the song by watching the movie which so beautifully illustrates that Ozi and all of us, with our one heart, can truly change the world.” This sentiment reflects a larger trend in entertainment, where artists leverage their platforms to address significant social issues, particularly those related to the environment.

The film has already debuted overseas, with Ketchup Entertainment acquiring the North American distribution rights for 2024. Although a U.S. release date has yet to be announced, anticipation is building, especially since proceeds from both the film and the song will be donated to organizations like International Animal Rescue and Sumatran Orangutan, which work to preserve endangered species and their habitats.

As conversations about climate change continue to gain momentum, projects like Ozi: Voice of the Forest serve as essential reminders of the interconnectedness of human actions and environmental health. They highlight not only the need for systemic change in how societies interact with nature but also the potential for art to inspire action and change at both individual and collective levels. The song is set for release in the spring, coinciding with an increased public awareness about climate issues, particularly in light of ongoing debates surrounding environmental policy and conservation efforts in the U.S.
