You Won't Believe Who Just Took the Helm of Nevada Women’s Soccer—And What This Means for Their Future!

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – In a significant shift for women's soccer in the region, Jeremy Evans, a prominent figure in South Lake Tahoe's sports community, has been appointed as the head coach for women’s soccer at the University of Nevada, Reno. Evans is well-known for his impressive track record at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC), where he served as both the men’s and women’s head soccer coach since 2015.
During his tenure at LTCC, Evans achieved remarkable success, leading the women’s team to a record of 142 wins, 46 losses, and 27 draws over ten seasons, which included multiple national rankings and several conference championships. His leadership extended to the men’s team as well, guiding them to six top-three finishes in the conference each year he coached. In total, Evans’ teams secured nine Golden Valley Conference championships. Impressively, over 90 percent of the LTCC players received four-year offers, with more than 70 percent moving on to four-year programs.
Evans reflected on his decision to leave LTCC, acknowledging the difficulty of departing from teams he helped build. “It is time for a new challenge,” he stated. “I hope to continue the success from LTCC at Nevada.” His commitment to fostering a positive team culture is evident as he quickly engaged with his new players, holding a Zoom meeting to introduce himself and energize the squad for the upcoming season.
Even during the students' break, Evans took proactive steps by reaching out to the 2026 recruits, ensuring they feel comfortable with his transition into the new role. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, stating, “We get to be in this together.” Additionally, he made it a priority to personally inform his LTCC players about his move, demonstrating his dedication to those he has coached.
Before his impactful stint at LTCC, Evans was the head coach for both junior varsity and varsity girls’ soccer at South Tahoe High School, where he amassed a stunning overall record of 38 wins, 5 losses, and 4 draws and led the team to two state championships over five seasons.
Beyond coaching, Evans has also made his mark as an educator, teaching English at both the high school and college levels. His academic credentials include a bachelor's degree in journalism from Marquette University and a master's from the former Sierra Nevada College (now UNR-Tahoe). In addition to his coaching and teaching roles, Evans is an accomplished author with three published books: In Search of Powder, The Battle for Paradise, and See You Tomorrow, which dives into the mysterious disappearance of French snowboarder Marco Siffredi on Mount Everest. He is also involved in a documentary project about Siffredi, contributing to the research.
Despite his new responsibilities, Evans plans to maintain his connection with South Lake Tahoe, where his family is deeply rooted in the community. His wife and daughters are part of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District, and he will continue supporting the U15 soccer team, which his eighth-grade daughter plays for. “They are a talented team; I’m not leaving them high and dry,” Evans assured, noting that there are parents available to assist in coaching.
The upcoming season for the Nevada Wolfpack kicks off in August, following a challenging previous season where the team recorded just 2 wins, 14 losses, and 2 draws in 2025. Evans is eager to bring his winning mentality and proven coaching strategies to this new environment, aiming to elevate the program and instill a renewed spirit of competition.
