In a concerning incident that has raised alarms in Fort Worth, Texas, a 17-year-old named Evan Banda was arrested in connection with a threatening social media video and several arson investigations, according to police reports released on Tuesday. The police became aware of the video around 7:30 a.m. on January 6, which they believe originated outside the United States and was intended to incite fear within the community.

The disturbing video, shared by FortWorth Texas TV on Instagram, featured an individual donning a hockey mask and brandishing a gun while making threats of mass violence. This particular video was sent to the media outlet by an anonymous source. Earlier that same day, a neighboring police department reportedly received a similar message, although officials did not specify which department it was.

As part of their investigation into the social media activity, authorities discovered additional threatening messages and videos, including one related to Crowley Middle School. However, the police have not disclosed the content of that particular video.

Through interviews and evidence processing, investigators linked Banda to the video concerning the middle school and identified him as a member of what police characterized as an extremist hate organization. Furthermore, the police found connections between the January 6 video and several other videos associated with arson incidents.

Banda was arrested on January 8 and is currently being held at the Tarrant County Lon Evans Corrections Center with an exceptionally high bail set at $1.9 million. He faces multiple charges, including terrorism, making a terroristic threat that impairs public services, inciting fear of serious bodily injury, possession of child pornography, and arson.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed the name of the extremist organization with which Banda is allegedly affiliated.
